Project QA Manager, Battery Storage

The Project QA Manager (Renewables) manages and implements Aypa’s QA program. The Project QA Manager manages multiple projects and provides support and guidance to the HSEQ Vice President implementing company Quality policies and procedures. This role supports and assists the HSEQ Vice President in preparing and updating the Quality program and strategies, including QA processes, audits, QA Observations, NCRs, and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design review and project planning once design review is at 75% or higher to identify quality requirements and risks prior to construction execution;
  • Review Contract quality requirements and manage the Contract Quality Exhibits;
  • Collaborate with the Contractor for review and comments on site-specific Quality Manuals, ITPS and Inspection Checklists;
  • Review EPC Submitted Site Specific Quality plans and ITPS against contract requirements and identify Owner specific inspections by discipline. (Material Handling, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical);
  • Review and manage all Quality submittals and ensure that all the project quality documents are accounted for against contract requirements for turnover;
  • Review and verify construction work against drawings and standards for conformance to the contract documents and drawings;
  • Complete material handling inspections and audits for materials and equipment delivered to the site to confirm conformance to the contract documents;
  • Attend pre-installation and pre-inspection meetings conducted by the EPC construction, quality, safety, and superintendent before proceeding with new phases of installation to ensure safety and compliance with the contract documents;
  • Observe and audit owner-identified construction inspections and provide detailed reports noting any deficiencies in the installation and make follow-up inspections to ensure corrective work is done;
  • Attend in-process construction inspections and walk with the inspector to ensure that all inspections are complete, approved, and documented;
  • Be responsible for all QA/QC documentation and record keeping, including final QA/QC control submittals;
  • Communicate quality related best practices, issues and project related information to the Project Manager for communication to the Contractor;
  • Assist in the development of and management of work instructions and other processes for construction inspection requirements across BESS and Solar utility projects;
  • Assist with the development of a comprehensive quality manual and work procedures across BESS+Solar components and assemblies;
  • Assist as directed with O&M warranty work;
  • Analyze new products for incorporation into future projects;
  • Assist in the development of a training curriculum to train field personnel;
  • Responsible for ensuring Code compliance on the projects;
  • Other duties as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience;
  • 5+ years of BESS and/or solar construction experience preferred;
  • Highly proficient in technical aspects of BESS and Solar utility construction;
  • NABCEP certification preferred or obtainable within 1 year;
  • OSHA 30 & NFPA70E training preferred or obtainable within 1 year;
  • Strong working knowledge of complex electrical systems and components;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude;
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player;
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.

Compensation and Location:

Salary: A base salary commensurate with experience.
Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance as well as the overall success of the business.

Location: Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Preference for California, Idaho, or Austin, TX, but workplace location is flexible, provided the candidate can travel as required.
Travel: 50% or more depending on project needs.
