Job Title: Software Support Engineer – IBM Mainframe Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Software Support Engineer with extensive experience and deep knowledge of the IBM mainframe environment. This role is critical in maintaining and improving our mainframe products, supporting customer needs, and contributing to the development of a diverse, knowledgeable engineering team. This is a fully remote position with flexible hours, requiring participation in an on-call rotation to provide essential customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Support:
- Provide technical support via email or phone, assisting customers with installation, updates, configuration, and running of H&W products.
- Diagnose technical issues effectively and devise efficient solutions.
- Quality Assurance & Sales Support:
- Participate in quality assurance testing as needed to ensure product reliability.
- Collaborate with sales personnel to address technical questions and issues from prospective customers.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
- Prepare comprehensive technical and customer documentation for product enhancements and fixes.
- Share knowledge with team members to build a stronger, more diverse knowledge base within the team.
- Research & Development:
- Stay up-to-date with emerging mainframe technologies and research new tech for potential product integration.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in installing, configuring, and deploying IBM products (SMPE).
- Extensive expertise in VSAM support and tuning, including Record-Level Sharing (RLS).
- Background in CICS installation and programming.
- Experience with installing z/OS systems software (VM, MVS, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with an analytical approach.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interactions and documentation.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- z/OS Systems Programming experience.
- Proficiency in IBM Assembler language.
- Strong understanding of z/OS functions (JES2, TSO, VTAM, TCP/IP).
- Background in Technical Support or Quality Assurance.
- Knowledge of:

- z/VSE
Working Hours:
Our business hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm MST (9:00 am to 7:00 pm EST), with flexible working arrangements. Core working hours are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm MST (12:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST), supporting a balanced work-life approach.
