Lead Software Engineer
Our Lead Software Engineers play a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot. This role will play a key role in leading the design, development, and implementation of high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the overall technical vision of the team. You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and progressive environment, where you will support us in building our next generation of GenAI enabled tech businesses.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software features and systems.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to junior engineers.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest software development trends and technologies.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, design, QA) to deliver successful projects.
- Estimate and track development tasks, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Identify and document technical risks and mitigation strategies.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in software development.
- Participate in the technical interview process for potential new hires.
- Contribute to the overall technical direction of the team and the company.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring software development teams.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Expertise in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
- Experience with AWS/Azure, Vue.js/React.js, MSSQL/MySQL, any NoSql database.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Passion for software development and a desire to learn new technologies.
Nice to have
- Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, API development.
- Open-source contributions.
