WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
Box is looking for an experienced Employment Attorney who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join Box supporting our global workforce. This role will report to the Senior Team Director, Global Employment Law and Employee Relations and will join a talented and collaborative legal team responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employee matters. This position will partner with Box’s People and Community teams providing guidance on day-to-day management of candidates, employees, employee disputes, internal investigations and policy review and creation. Box’s Legal Department is geographically dispersed, and this position will be located preferably in our Redwood City office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide strategic advice and counsel to the People & Communities team on a broad range of employment issues, including recruitment, hiring, corrective actions, terminations, benefits, complex leaves of absence and accommodations issues, compensation, contingent workers, HR policies and practices, and performance management, among others;
- Provide pragmatic advice to the business on employment obligations primarily focused in the United States but the ability to flex and advise on other geographic areas
- Provide legal advice on various employee-related AI initiatives
- In coordination with the People & Communities team, assist with the creation of policies, standards and business procedures designed to foster compliance with various employment laws and regulations (including health and safety compliance);
- Draft and review various types of employment offers, agreements, policies, etc.;
- Manage pre-litigation and litigation disputes and devise creative resolution strategies with the assistance of outside counsel, as needed;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, other members of the Legal team, the People Partner team, and with external counsel;
- Assist the Legal team on employee-related matters in privacy initiatives, customer agreements, vendor agreements, partner agreements, and outside opportunities.
- Stay up to date, and advise as needed, on legal developments across the United States
- Lead and/or assist with other projects as business needs arise
WHO YOU ARE

- JD degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar (CA, NY, IL or TX preferred)
- 6+ experience in employment law
- Significant experience advising Employee Relations on investigations of employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and policy violations
- Experience at a reputable law firm (some in-house legal department or secondment experience preferred)
- Significant experience providing employment law advice and counsel on the full spectrum of employment issues. Experience with California employment law (or a willingness to dive in and learn)
- Experience working with and influencing cross-functional partners
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and collaborative skills with a service-orientated mindset
- Attention to detail, sense of humor, team player yet autonomous, highest level of judgment and integrity
- Comfortable juggling multiple demands and shifting priorities
- Experience with employee-related privacy ;
- Ability to manage or coordinate the work of others, including external counsel and working groups or project teams;
- Keen to participate fully in the wider Box Legal team, a diverse group of collaborative, passionate and friendly legal professionals.

United States Pay Range
$205,000 - $235,000 USD
