Senior Software Engineer – Platform Modernization (.Net &Azure)

In This Role
In this role, you will be responsible for modernizing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-grade software systems with a strong focus on business logic, reliability, and long-term maintainability. You will work on upgrading legacy services, improving build and deployment pipelines, and implementing secure, scalable solutions in a cloud environment. The role requires hands-on development, close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and ownership of scoped technical initiatives from design through post-production support.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain business and application software, including client/server and distributed systems
- Modernize existing services, codebases, and infrastructure to align with current engineering standards
- Migrate legacy project definitions to modern SDK-style projects and updated frameworks
- Upgrade and manage NuGet packages, resolve compiler warnings, and improve overall code hygiene
- Refactor and modernize authentication and authorization mechanisms using secure, cloud-aligned patterns
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services
- Participate in build pipeline modernization and CI/CD improvements
- Define and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical designs and implementation plans
- Review enhancement requests and provide technical recommendations
- Create detailed software specifications, test plans, and supporting documentation
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Support system migrations, testing cycles, and production deployments
- Perform post-implementation validation and resolve defects or reliability issues
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8–10 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with C# across .NET Framework and modern .NET
- Proven experience modernizing legacy applications and services
- Experience building and maintaining cloud-based applications and backend services
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and build system modernization
- Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and engineering best practices
- Experience with automated testing, debugging, and troubleshooting production systems
- Solid foundation in computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale or legacy enterprise systems undergoing modernization
- Experience splitting or migrating workloads to new repositories or isolated environments
- Exposure to improving developer experience, testing tooling, or build automation
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with two-week sprint cycles
- Familiarity with secure service-to-service authentication and identity patterns
- Experience removing or replacing legacy authentication mechanisms
- Background in cloud security, secure engineering initiatives, or compliance-driven development
- Experience performing in-depth root cause analysis and long-term reliability improvements
- Prior experience working in highly regulated or high-privilege environments
Salary Range
At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $130,000 to $140,000 USD annually. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
