The core mission of the Trading Analytics group is to minimize the overall transaction costs of implementing our alpha portfolios in order to maximize returns for clients. We endeavor to do this by deeply understanding the drivers of market liquidity and cost and designing intelligent execution strategies to minimize those costs.

About Your Role: 

As an Investment Engineer on the Trading Analytics team, you will spend your time designing, building and evolving the data and investment logic that manages trade execution across all of our investment portfolios. The Investment Engineer will be directly embedded with the investors who sit on the Trading Analytics team and will gain a key understanding of our transaction costs and Bridgewater’s trade execution strategies. 

In this role you will drive the following responsibilities:

  • Build and evolve foundational trading data sets that can be used to power our execution logic 
  • Directly build and evolve the logic and oversight of the investment systems that drive our trade execution. 
  • Translate investment goals and understanding into elegant and robust systematic logic. 
  • Dive deep into the systems and learn the contents to perceive issues in our logic and translate those problems into business solutions. 
  • Own and develop tools to oversee and validate our transaction costs. 
  • Understand and enforce the best engineering standards across the team. 

You will be a click for the role if you:

  • Have 1 - 2 years of professional experience in a relevant engineering field.  
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop innovative solutions.  
  • Have strong technical abilities, coding experience in Scala, Python, SQL, is preferred but not required. 
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can translate technical concepts to different stakeholders. 
  • Are practical and goal oriented so you can quickly interface with the various partners across the firm to perceive and solve problems. 
  • Have a desire to use technology and engineering to solve real world business problems

Physical Requirements:

The anticipated onsite requirement for this role is four days per week at our New York City campus.  

Compensation Band 

  • The wage range for this role is $225,000 – 265,000 inclusive of base salary and discretionary target bonus. The expected base salary for this role is between 60% - 75% of this wage range.
