Utility Power Projects Analyst/Associate

Job Summary: 

As an Associate in the Business Development team at Peak Energy Korea (PEK), you will actively contribute to project origination, business development, and project development efforts for solar, onshore wind, and battery projects across Korea. Working closely with senior team members, you will assist in sourcing and evaluating both Distributed Generation (DG) and Utility Scale Power Projects (UPP), with a focus on greenfield opportunities and potential M&A projects. Your role will be instrumental in supporting the team's objective of establishing PEK as a leading player in the regional renewable energy market. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  1. **Project Sourcing Support:** Assist in sourcing large to small DG and UPP greenfield projects. Support senior team members in engaging with partners, conducting market research, and identifying potential project acquisition opportunities.

 

  1. **Due Diligence Assistance:** Provide support in conducting due diligence on potential projects, including market analysis, regulatory assessment, and financial modeling. Assist in evaluating project viability and investment returns.

 

  1. **Internal Process Support:** Aid in the internal investment and approval process by preparing project documentation, analyzing project risks, and providing recommendations for project approval. Work closely with senior team members to ensure alignment with commercial, legal, regulatory, and technical requirements.

 

  1. **Stakeholder Engagement:** Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, advisors, and regulatory agencies. Assist in building and maintaining relationships to support business development efforts.

 

  1. **Team Collaboration:** Work closely with the Business Development team to support overall departmental objectives. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and engineering, to drive project success.

 

Qualifications:  

- Over 3 years of relevant experience in renewable energy, project development, or related fields. 

- Demonstrated ability to contribute to multi-million-dollar capital investment decision-making processes. 

- Familiarity with joint venture and M&A processes, preferably in the Asian market. 

- Strong analytical skills and experience in financial modeling and project evaluation. 

- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
