Business Development Associate - Power Sales & Marketing (Solar)

Job Summary: 

Peak Energy is seeking a Business Development Associate to join our team, based in Korea. This individual will play a key role in expanding our renewable energy portfolio, particularly in the solar and energy storage sectors. The Associate will focus on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving project development from conception through completion. In addition to business development, the role requires a solid foundation in financial analysis, project valuation, and investment strategies. 

 

Responsibilities: 

1. Business Development: 

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, and battery projects. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, corporate partners, and financial institutions. 
  • Lead negotiations for strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and power purchase agreements. 
  • Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in renewable energy. 

2. Project Development: 

  • Oversee the development process of onsite distributed generation renewable energy projects, from initial feasibility studies to final approvals. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of project milestones, including permitting, construction, and operations. 

3. Financial Analysis and Investment: 

  • Work closely with the finance team to assess project profitability and financial risks.  
  • Support BD efforts, including early-stage project screening and investment worthiness studies. 

4. Strategic Reporting: 

  • Present regular updates and reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, business development activities, and potential investment opportunities. 
  • Contribute to investment committee meetings with financial insights and project evaluation results. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, MBA in Finance or Business Development is highly preferred. 
  • 2-6 years of experience in business development or investments in the renewable energy sector, particularly with solar, wind, or energy storage projects. 
  • A track record of supporting the M&A process for potential acquisitions of renewable energy assets including due dillagence and deal structuring is a distinct advantage. 
  • Proven experience in financial modeling and investment evaluation, especially for renewable energy projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage strategic partnerships and joint ventures. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Fluency in Korea and English is required; 

Skills: 

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy markets, particularly in Korea and broader Asia. 
  • Proficiency in business case development and project valuation. 
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects. 
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
