Role Summary
We are looking for a passionate and curious Geospatial Data Science Intern to support our business development teams. You’ll work with cutting-edge spatial data tools to help identify, assess, and visualize optimal locations for renewable energy development. This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world energy challenges in a data-driven and impact-oriented company.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and process geospatial datasets (e.g., satellite imagery, topography, land use, infrastructure, meteorological data)
- Assist in building and maintaining geospatial models and dashboards for site screening
- Support development of automated spatial data pipelines
- Conduct spatial analysis and visualization to support decision-making
- Present insights and findings in clear, actionable formats
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geoinformatics, Data Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with geospatial analysis tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine)
- Geospatial and spatiotemporal analysis, remote sensing, image processing experience preferred
- Proficiency in Python (especially with packages like GeoPandas, Rasterio, Folium, or similar) to develop clean, efficient pipelines and workflows, ensuring reproducibility and effective team collaboration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Interest in renewable energy and climate change
Nice to Have
- Experience working with large spatial datasets or satellite imagery (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat)
- Knowledge of machine learning for spatial analysis
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or remote sensing APIs
