What you'll do
We're building a talent pipeline for exceptional Senior Backend Engineers who want to be part of Clara’s mission in transforming corporate spend management across Latin America. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll help architect and scale backend services that power mission-critical features. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are performant, maintainable, and aligned with both technical and business goals.
Typical responsibilities include:

Designing and developing backend services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot

Architecting scalable systems based on microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs

Building integrations with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
-
Leveraging event-driven architectures and tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ
-
Driving DevOps best practices with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
-
Operating within AWS and applying cloud-native architecture principles

Applying TDD, BDD, and Agile methodologies to ensure high-quality releases
-
Mentoring engineers and contributing to architectural strategy
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Must haves
-
7+ years of backend development experience using Java, especially with Spring/Spring Boot
-
Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and microservices
-
Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
-
Familiarity with event-driven systems and message brokers
-
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud platforms like AWS
-
Deep knowledge of TDD, BDD, and Agile development

Strong communication and leadership skills

Working proficiency in English and Spanish

Proactive, adaptable, and execution-focused
Nice to haves

Background in financial applications or platforms

Previous experience as a Tech Lead or team mentor

Interest in using AI tools to boost engineering efficiency

Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.
We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
