Job Overview:
The Design & Research teams play a vital role in Coursera’s success. These teams are responsible for gathering learner & partner insights and translating them into recommendations that help Coursera achieve a seamless experience across its platform. These teams are divided down into three main areas: Growth & Discovery, Learner & Educator Experience, & Enterprise.
The experience of learning and transformation is inherently challenging. Your work as a designer will be to create simplicity from complexity and influence everything from the most micro-interaction to full-enterprise learning programs with thousands of employee learners. Our goal is to make education accessible to all and we need extraordinary designers to realize this.
REQUIRED: Portfolio featuring examples of UX design, UI/ visual case studies and any examples of Product design for growth is highly valuable (please link a personal website or portfolio).
Responsibilities:
- Work through design problems, translating research insights and product requirements into ideas that form delightful user experiences, from workflows and wireframes to high-fidelity visual designs.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and researchers to create products from initial definition to shipping and beyond.
- Clearly articulate design rationale and advocate for the user's needs in cross-functional discussions.
- Incorporate qualitative and quantitative data to inform your design decisions and iterate on solutions.
- Effectively manage and execute on multiple design projects, balancing priorities and timelines with guidance from your manager or a design lead.
- Contribute to our team culture by sharing knowledge, providing constructive feedback, and actively participating in design critiques.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or in a similar role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in the full design process, from discovery (user flows, IA) to delivery (wireframes, detailed UI, and prototypes).
- Strong visual and UI design skills with experience working with and contributing to a design system.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting work to cross-functional team members.
- Experience participating in user research and using insights to inform design decisions.
- An understanding of technical constraints and the ability to find pragmatic solutions in partnership with engineering.
- Proficiency in mobile design.
Nice-to-Have:
- Interest in or exposure to designing with emerging technologies like GenAI.
- Experience in a test-driven environment (A/B testing).
- Experience designing for consumer, enterprise, or mobile-first products.

$116,000 - $146,000 USD
US Zone 3
$110,000 - $137,500 USD
The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.
A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.

- Zone 1- San Francisco Metro, New York City Metro or Seattle Metro
- Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)
