Sr. Policy Writer SME
Coho Consulting Group is seeking a superior Senior Policy Writer SME to provide strategic and technical expertise to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Space Portfolio Division (SPD) in Arlington, VA, supporting complex DoD programs. This role involves advising senior leadership, conducting advanced analyses, and providing actionable solutions to mission-critical challenges.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Develop requirements and lead projects from inception to completion for complex DoD initiatives.
- Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expert analysis to project staff and senior stakeholders.
- Conduct detailed evaluations and recommend improvements for mission-critical programs and operations.
- Represent DoD policy positions clearly and persuasively to senior-level audiences.
- Support multi-faceted projects, integrating resources and defining clear goals and objectives.
- Draft high-level DoD decision documents and white papers for executive consideration.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses to identify solutions for organizational and administrative challenges.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of activities to achieve organizational priorities.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

- Education and Certifications:
- Master’s degree or higher required
- Required Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of DoD, OSD, and WHS experience
- Skills and Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of DoD structure, policies, and decision-making processes
- Expert knowledge of DoD resource strategy formulation, execution, and planning
- Superior communication and writing skills for senior government audiences
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with senior executives across agencies and military departments
- Deep understanding of DoD functional policies and innovative problem-solving for management challenges
