HVAC Equipment Mechanic

Copper River Technologies is seeking an experienced HVAC Equipment Mechanic to join our team supporting commercial and industrial facilities. In this role, you’ll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration systems—including equipment supporting large office buildings, warehouses, aircraft hangars, hospitals, data centers, and other specialized environments in Crane, IN.

 Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and refrigeration system issues.
  • Service equipment including chillers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, motors, fans, valves, thermostats, and controls.
  • Check system pressures, temperatures, refrigerant levels, and overall equipment performance.
  • Charge refrigeration systems and perform leak testing.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble HVAC and refrigeration components.
  • Install and connect piping, tubing, controls, gauges, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical instructions.
  • Use diagnostic and precision tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, vacuum pumps, thermometers, and other HVAC test equipment.
  • Identify equipment deficiencies and make adjustments or repairs to keep systems operating safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all applicable safety, environmental, refrigerant-handling, and facility procedures.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Certification:
    • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience working with commercial or industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems
    • Experience working with HVAC diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, chilled-water systems, and environmental control systems
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems
    • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Physical & Work Requirements
    • This is a hands-on position that may require:
      • Lifting up to 40 pounds independently
      • Climbing ladders and scaffolding
      • Working on rooftops, in equipment rooms, confined spaces, and other challenging environments
      • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching
      • Working indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, noisy, or occasionally poorly ventilated environments
  • Additional Requirements
    • Subject to pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
    • Subject to random drug testing
    • Must obtain and maintain required certifications, licenses, and security clearance, as applicable
    • May require overtime, emergency callback, weekend/holiday work, and approximately 1–2 days of travel per month
