Senior Manager, Tax Operations

Position Summary:

Dataiku is seeking a Sr. Manager of Tax Operations to lead our global tax operations function which includes income tax compliance and reporting, indirect tax, and transfer pricing. This is a high-visibility, leadership role responsible for ensuring that Dataiku’s global tax operations are technically sound, operationally efficient, and scalable to support our ongoing global expansion.

This person will oversee the end-to-end delivery of income tax compliance and provision (ASC 740), VAT/GST/sales tax compliance, and global transfer pricing execution. The ideal candidate is incredibly organized, analytical, and an excellent communicator, with strong leadership experience, tax-technical expertise, and a passion for process improvement and automation. The role will help manage other members of the tax team. 

Key Responsibilities:

Income Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead the global corporate income tax compliance function in collaboration with advisors.
  • Manage the global quarterly and annual tax provision prepared in-house process under U.S. GAAP (ASC 740), including detailed calculation review, ETR & Cash Tax analysis, deferred tax calculations, and tax footnote preparation.
  • Partner with accounting on statutory financial statements to ensure tax provisions and transfer pricing are appropriately reflected at local and consolidated levels.
  • Responsible for the global transfer pricing process, including policy implementation and accuracy of calculations.

Indirect Tax (VAT, GST, Sales/Use)

  • Manage in-house staff and local advisors re: sales tax/VAT/GST compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns across jurisdictions.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure accuracy of indirect tax treatment of domestic and international sales, purchases, and intercompany transactions.
  • Collaborate with Finance IT to optimize systems including Avalara.

Process Optimization, Technology & Controls

  • Implement best practices, global process standards, and SOX-compliant controls.
  • Partner with Finance IT to identify and deliver automation and system enhancements for tax compliance and reporting.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track tax compliance and provision status globally.
  • Monitor global legislative changes to ensure worldwide compliance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including global tax operations leadership in a multinational company or Big 4 advisory role.
  • Technical expertise in U.S. GAAP (ASC 740), international income tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing. Strong tax research skills.
  • Experience managing tax operations in a high-growth, cross-border environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage external advisors, and operate with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Detail Oriented, strong organizational, project management, analytical and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to SOX, IPO readiness, and public company reporting requirements.
