Gallery Assistant

About the Opportunity:
David Zwirner seeks a full-time Gallery Assistant for its Paris gallery. Qualified candidates should be highly personable, proactive, motivated, and have strong communication skills. Previous experience at a gallery, museum, or comparable arts organization is required.
What you'll do:
Front Desk:
- Greeting visitors with professionalism and warmth.
- Managing paris@davidzwirner.com inbox.
- Fielding and directing incoming phone calls.
- Preparing and updating price lists for exhibitions and viewings.
- Managing various gallery and staff calendars.
- Managing the shipping and receiving of gallery mail and packages.
- Maintaining the pristine appearance of the front desk area and the built-in book displays, while keeping exhibition materials stocked and orderly + Izettle/Ipad devices on hand.
- Assisting the Sales Team with contact database maintenance, exhibition preparation, and additional projects as needed.
- Assisting all directors/partners passing by DZP (restaurant reservations, arranging museum visits, assisting with viewings and sales material needed).
Books:
- Oversee and manage the Paris bookstore and comps stock.
- Prepare and present books selection for upcoming shows.
- Act as liaison between DZ books manager and the Paris team.
Events:
- Assist in the coordination of exhibition/art fair dinners and special events: book reservations, manage guest lists in tandem with the sales team, manage RSVP lists.
- Coordinate marketing/book events: book and oversee catering and other vendors, and manage RSVP lists where relevant.
What we would like you to have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Art History or a related field.
- Similar experience in another Art Gallery would be appreciated.
- Demonstrated familiarity with and interest in contemporary art and the gallery’s program.
- A detail-oriented, take-ownership approach, self-organization, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with data entry.
- A positive, helpful attitude.

The position is 5 days a week, 11:00am to 7:00pm (Tuesday to Saturday). Applicants will occasionally need to work additional hours for events and openings. Only qualified candidates will be contacted. Absolutely no calls or walk-ins, please.
