Events Marketing Manager

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing tradeshow presences and running high-impact sponsorship programs that generate over $1M in revenue, ROI, and sponsor retention. Key qualifications include experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, a passion for building and maintaining meaningful relationships with partners, strong event marketing and relationship management skills, and a keen attention to detail.
The Strategic Events Manager will collaborate with internal teams, including Strategic Events, Partnerships, Product Marketing, Finance, and Demand Generation, to sell and fulfill sponsorships and execute sponsored events. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Events, this role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in our biggest brand moments of the year.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Manage all aspects of the dbt Labs hosted events sponsorship sales process, from recruitment to fulfillment. Own a revenue target and communicate progress towards goals with Marketing Leadership. Partner with finance to track goals and set targets.
- Work with Partnerships and Product Marketing to develop the sponsorship prospectus, secure commitments, identify targets, negotiate packages, and finalize contracts.
- Work with Partnerships to plan the annual Partner Summit. Understanding their goal and objectives and working to bring the event to life.
- Plan, produce, and execute dbt Labs-sponsored events. Handle logistics such as contract negotiations, catering, entertainment, production, session and content management, transportation, equipment, travel, branding, and promotions.
- Oversee budgets for sponsored events, ensuring no cost overruns and providing regular expense updates to key internal stakeholders for operational transparency.
- Work with stakeholders across product marketing, professional services, revenue marketing, and sales to meet event objectives, including agenda creation and sales enablement.
- Develop and manage project plans, documenting processes, milestones, content deliverables, and timelines.
- Oversee relationships with vendors, such as general services, AV, and independent contractors, ensuring a high level of service for world-class events.
It would be great if you have:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience managing technical and logistical aspects of event production.
- A proven track record in sponsorship management, including securing sponsors, building strong sponsor relationships, and generating at least $1M in revenue
- Experience owning projects that require buy in and feedback from multiple stakeholders
- Experience with virtual meetings and events
- Strong capability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
- Genuine enthusiasm for events and a love for handling their unpredictable nature.
- Willingness and ability to travel at least once a month.
- Understanding of what makes an event exceptional, combined with a desire to test new ideas and create memorable experiences when bringing people together.
- Experience in managing vendors and contractors/freelancers (production agency, designers, etc.)
You’ll have an edge if you have experience:
- Prior experience working with partnership teams
- Experience working on international programs
- Experience in tech industry, particularly in a start-up or scale-up phase
- Working remotely in an asynchronous environment
