Welcome to Ignite, DEPT®'s internship for Black individuals.
As it’s challenging for Black professionals to break into the marketing/advertising industry, an initiative has been created and is dedicated to changing that by hiring, retaining and developing Black people in this sector. We want to aim to have a proportionate amount of Black talent across our offices.
This opportunity is open to those seeking to start their career in copywriting, and is perfect for a current university student or someone who already has a little experience, whether self-taught, from a previous role, or an education course.
As a Copywriter intern for the Ignite program, you’ll be tasked with writing a variety of creative campaigns, brainstorming innovative and exciting ideas, and seeing things fruition into fully moulded concepts.
Within the Ignite internship, you will have a Black mentor and/or line manager who will help guide and support you. This will ensure that we can meet your needs at both a business and personal level.

JOB PURPOSE
With support from your mentor, you will work on a broad range of projects for some of the largest, well-recognised brands in the world. You will write for all digital channels, providing on-brand website copy that drives clicks and engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create clear, effective, and original copy and content for our clients’ onsite marketing.
- Iterate on copy changes quickly and effectively with guidance from the Copy team.
- Adhere to clients' tone of voice and brand guidelines.
- Research competitors and trends for creative inspiration.
- Collaborate with Designers.

- Ability to create marketing content that sells.
- Confidence in working with other Copywriters and Editors.
- Readiness to work at a fast pace on large marketing campaigns with many assets.
- An understanding of the importance of consistency across different touchpoints of a user journey.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and enthusiastically.
