UX/UI & Strategy Lead (Platform Design)
OOVERVIEW
DEPT® Australia is seeking a hands-on, platform-focused UX/UI & Strategy Lead to drive the design vision across enterprise-scale digital experiences. You’ll lead design locally while collaborating with DEPT®’s global teams, working across web platforms, component-based CMS, and commerce builds.
As part of a growing onshore team, you’ll have the opportunity to own projects end-to-end, from pitch and strategy through to delivery. You’ll facilitate workshops, define experience strategies, lead discovery, shape creative concepts, and guide offshore designers in execution.
This is a strategic, visual, and delivery-focused role, with equal emphasis on pitching and sales, client strategy, and hands-on design leadership
WHAT YOU"LL DO
Pre-Sales & Pitch Support
- Lead the design stream for RFPs, proposals, and new business pitches, shaping DEPT®’s design narrative and vision.
- Collaborate with Commercial & Strategy leads to identify design-led differentiators that win work.
- Rapidly prototype concepts, flows, or artefacts that bring proposals to life and inspire clients.
- Bring empathy, strategic insight, and creative storytelling to pre-sales conversations, positioning design as a commercial and strategic driver.
Client Engagement & Discovery / Strategy
- Lead and facilitate discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and design thinking sessions to uncover business goals and user needs.
- Translate complex requirements into clear UX strategies and actionable design directions.
- Create frameworks, journey maps, and presentations that help clients align around a shared vision.
- Partner with Delivery & Technical leads to define product roadmaps and ensure design feasibility.
UX/UI Design Delivery
- Design responsive, component-based experiences across AEM, Adobe Commerce, and other CMS/DXP platforms.
- Produce wireframes, user journeys, prototypes, and detailed UI mockups using Figma and Miro.
- Develop scalable design systems, ensuring consistency across multi-platform ecosystems.
- Collaborate closely with developers and product owners to ensure design quality and intent through delivery.
Cross-Functional & Offshore Collaboration
- Provide direction and feedback to offshore design teams, ensuring alignment with DEPT®’s design standards and client goals.
- Collaborate with platform architects, developers, and delivery teams across time zones to achieve seamless integration and execution.
- Support content, personalisation, and marketing initiatives within Adobe Experience Cloud and similar environments.
WHO YOU ARE
- 8+ years’ experience in UX/UI design, experience strategy, or digital product design – ideally within an agency or platform implementation environment.
- Deep understanding of component-based CMS and commerce platforms (e.g. AEM, Adobe Commerce, Contentful, Sitecore).
- Confident facilitator and communicator, experienced in leading workshops, managing clients, and aligning cross-functional teams.
- Highly proficient in Figma, Miro, prototyping tools, and design systems, with a strong eye for visual design and detail.
- Experienced working in agile, fast-paced environments with rapidly shifting priorities and timelines.
- Strong grasp of accessibility, responsive design, and cross-platform interaction patterns.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a small local team while managing offshore designers with clarity and confidence.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or Adobe Commerce.
- Exposure to platform implementation, DXP environments, or enterprise integration projects.
- A balance of design craft and strategic thinking – able to move from vision to detail with ease.
