Position Overview:

As a Senior .Net Software Engineer at Diligent, you’ll be hands-on in shaping the future of our platform by designing and delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing web applications and serverless microservices using .Net and TypeScript on AWS. You’ll contribute meaningfully to our mission of making governance effortless for our customers, working in a team that owns its application and services end to end, from architecture and implementation to monitoring and continuous improvement.

In this role, you’ll lead by example, owning products end-to-end from development to deployment and monitoring, driving architectural discussions, and mentoring others across the team. You’ll be a key voice in evolving our engineering practices and will actively champion the use of AI-powered tools to streamline development, improve quality, and boost team productivity.

We’re looking for someone who is not only passionate about building great software, but also excited to explore how AI can unlock faster ways of working for themselves and their teammates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure .NET backend services, evaluating architecture, technical complexity, and implementation impact for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Own and deliver well-defined backend stories independently, with deep understanding of .NET, frameworks, and supporting tools.
  • Lead code reviews, enforce testing practices, and maintain service stability across backend services and infrastructure components.
  • Coach and mentor peers on .NET patterns, best practices, clean architecture principles, and AI-augmented development; foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with Product, Security, DevOps, and other teams to align on features, deployment, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Maintain Agile development flow and drive iterative improvements in backend services.
  • Advise on AI use (model concepts, prompt patterns, ethical/privacy considerations), embed monitoring and compliance checks, and document residual risks.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate backend development tasks such as API design, database schema creation, infrastructure provisioning, debugging, and researching best practices, validating outputs and applying judgment.
  • Understand core LLM concepts (tokens, context length, embeddings, hallucinations), recognize safe vs. unsafe use cases, and flag ethical, privacy, or cost concerns.
  • Explore emerging backend frameworks, cloud patterns, and AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, scalability, and maintainability.

Required Experience/Skills

  • 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience in agile, fast-paced environments, delivering secure, scalable backend applications.
  • Strong .NET proficiency: .NET 8+, Web API for RESTful services, clean architecture principles, repository patterns, ORMs, unit and integration testing. Python knowledge is a plus.
  • AI Tooling & Practices: Skilled in using AI tools to boost productivity (e.g., architecture drafts, test scenarios, debugging, research), prompt engineering, and evaluating outputs responsibly (bias, ethics, cost).
  • Database & Data Management: Solid experience with SQL databases, performance optimization, multi-tenant design, and data migration strategies. Familiarity with NoSQL or vector databases is a plus.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Proficient with AWS services (S3, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFront, IAM), Infrastructure as Code (CDK/Terraform), serverless architecture, and cloud security best practices.
  • Security & Compliance: Applies .NET security best practices (JWT, API security, encryption, secure coding) and reviews AI-assisted suggestions for safety.
  • Performance & Reliability: Experience with caching strategies, error handling, retry patterns, monitoring, observability, and scalability considerations.
  • CI/CD mindset: Experience in CI/CD pipeline setup and exploring AI-assisted DevOps tooling.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong teamwork, capable of leading architectural discussions, documenting designs (including AI-assisted), and presenting technical ideas clearly.
  • Growth Mindset: Willingness to take on complex challenges, introduce new technologies, and continuously improve backend practices.
  • Bonus/Optional: Knowledge of RAG, AWS Bedrock, or AI integration patterns.
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
