Overview
We are currently seeking an intermediate-level Data Manager/SAS programmer who, under the limited direction of senior data managers and programmers, will provide both data management and programming support for federally-funded and commercially-funded clinical research and epidemiological studies. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes other data managers and programmers, epidemiologists, and operations staff. You will play a critical role in the management of data for these studies by developing and maintaining programs that support the full lifecycle of a study. You will develop programs and processes to build study datasets, monitor the quality of the data collected, generate reports to inform the progress of the studies, and summarize the study data from a scientific and operational perspective. Ultimately, you will contribute to the development of analysis datasets and statistical programming that results in publications in scientific journals. Responsibilities
- Writing, testing, and revising programs, predominantly in SAS.
- Creating annotated case report forms and questionnaires.
- Developing reports and dashboards for internal and external study monitoring purposes.
- Constructing codebooks, data dictionaries, and format files.
- Creating analytical datasets.
- Reviewing and fulfilling data requests submitted by internal and external clients.
- Developing and maintaining data management plans, study documentation, and data inventories.
- Testing and validating data collection procedures and systems.
- Ensuring quality by following established standards and procedures and incorporating QC feedback.
- Complying with federal regulations, client guidelines, corporate SOPs, and project work instructions related to data management.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in computer sciences, health sciences, or other related field.
- M.S. degree in computer sciences, health sciences, or other related field. (Preferred)
- Due to contractual obligations, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- 5-7 years of SAS programming and data management experience in health research which includes writing or revising programs for cleaning, monitoring, and reporting of study data as well as generating analytical datasets and deriving complex variables.
- Proficient SAS programming experience (SAS macros, arrays and do loops, PROC REPORT, PROC SQL, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple data sources to monitor and assess data quality, including accuracy and completeness.
- Detail-oriented and able to create meticulous documentation of variables, datasets, and data attributes with a commitment to generating accurate data and products.
- Clear communication (written and verbal).
- Previous experience in clinical research preferred.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Large (>500,000 observations) datasets.
- Other statistical software (R, Python, STATA).
- Developing data collection systems (REDCap, SurveyCTO).
- Creating and managing dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, RShiny).
Basic Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 yearly salary
The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates’ skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards that may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
