Overview

We are seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to support the design, administration, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of cloud systems while supporting day-to-day operational needs, troubleshooting issues, and implementing scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing cloud platforms, strong systems administration fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and monitor cloud infrastructure across platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Provision and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, identity access, and cloud-native services
  • Deploy, configure, and support Windows and Linux server environments in cloud ecosystems
  • Monitor system health, uptime, performance metrics, and capacity utilization
  • Troubleshoot system, network, storage, and application issues in cloud-hosted environments
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Apply security best practices, including IAM, MFA, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and patch management
  • Support automation and infrastructure provisioning using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Assist with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, HashiCorp CloudFormation, or ARM templates
  • Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and cybersecurity teams on deployments and incident resolution
  • Manage system updates, patching schedules, and change control procedures
  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and operational runbooks
  • Participate in on-call support rotation and incident response activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration, including cloud infrastructure support
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform:
    • Amazon Web Services
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Google Cloud
  • Strong experience supporting Windows Server and/or Linux environments
  • Experience with cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of identity and access management, RBAC, and cloud security principles
  • Experience with backup tools, monitoring platforms, and logging solutions
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Experience working with container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience with ticketing and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications such as:
    • Amazon Web Services Certified SysOps Administrator
    • Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
    • Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
  • Experience supporting compliance-driven environments (NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Experience administering web and application services such as Apache and IIS
  • Experience working with managed database services such as Amazon RDS and Azure Database services
  • Experience with observability tools like CloudWatch and Azure Monitor
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability scanners
  • Experience with API integrations and cloud SDKs

Basic Compensation: $164,725 - $174,400 yearly salary

The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
