Gurgaon

dunnhumby is the global leader in Customer Data Science, partnering with the world’s most ambitious retailers and brands to put the customer at the heart of every decision. We combine deep insight, advanced technology, and close collaboration to help our clients grow, innovate, and deliver measurable value for their customers.

dunnhumby employs nearly 2,500 experts in offices throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas working for transformative, iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Unilever and Metro.

Most companies try to meet expectations, dunnhumby exists to defy them. Using big data, deep expertise and AI-driven platforms to decode the 21st century human experience – then redefine it in meaningful and surprising ways that put customers first. Across digital, mobile and retail. For brands like Tesco, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo.

We are looking for a hands-on Lead/ Senior DevOps Engineer to raise the bar for our DevOps practice, mentor the team, and help evolve our DevOps function into a modern, product-minded Platform Engineering capability. You’ll lead day-to-day work, partnering closely with Dunnhumby leadership, and drive high-quality outcomes across infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and developer experience. You’ll collaborate directly with software teams and treat platforms as products—anchored by user feedback, clear roadmaps, SLOs, and measurable improvements to delivery speed and reliability.

Our Toolset: (you don’t need all, but you can lead with most)

Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (primary), some Microsoft Azure
CI/CD & VCS: GitLab Premium (self-hosted), Octopus Deploy, TeamCity
Artifact & Code Quality: JFrog Artifactory, SonarQube
GitOps & Deployment: Argo CD, Crossplane
Work Management & Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, Miro
Observability: Grafana, Loki, VictoriaMetrics, New Relic

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a small team of DevOps engineers in IST, providing day-to-day guidance, pairing, and structured growth plans.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to help deliver a platform-as-product: contributing to clear roadmaps, customer feedback loops, SLOs, and well-documented golden paths.
  • Own cloud infrastructure (GCP, some Azure) using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
  • Design, standardize, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, and facilitate migrations from TeamCity and Octopus Deploy.
  • Establish and scale GitOps practices with Argo CD; champion progressive delivery and environment promotion strategies.
  • Strengthen observability with actionable dashboards and alerts in Grafana; drive SLO/error-budget thinking and operational reviews.
  • Improve security posture across the SDLC (secrets management, image/package governance, artifact hygiene, SAST/DAST reporting via SonarQube).
  • Facilitate excellent cross-time-zone communication and handovers; set up crisp status updates, docs, and runbooks in Confluence.
  • Influence architecture and reliability decisions (Kubernetes, networking, IAM, cost management) with a bias for automation and sustainability.
  • Contribute hands-on: code reviews, IaC modules, pipeline templates, and reference implementations.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years in DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering with hands-on delivery in cloud-native environments.
  • Proven leadership: experience in line management and mentoring/coaching across teams without formal authority.
  • Strong communication: clear written and verbal communication with engineers, stakeholders, and leadership across time zones.
  • Deep experience with GCP (preferred) and working knowledge of Azure; strong grounding in Kubernetes, networking, IAM, and security fundamentals.
  • Mastery of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and configuration management (Helm); excellent scripting in Bash and at least one higher-level language (Python/Go/etc.).
  • Fluency with CI/CD design and operations using GitLab, TeamCity, and Octopus; artifact and dependency management via Artifactory.
  • Operational excellence mindset: incident management, post-incident reviews, runbooks, SLOs, and data-driven improvement via DORA/SDLC metrics.
  • Track record of building developer-centric platforms, internal documentation, enablement materials, and golden paths.
  • Relevant certifications that demonstrate depth (e.g., Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer / Architect, CKA/CKAD/CKS, Azure Administrator/DevOps Engineer Expert).

Nice to Have

  • Experience modernizing a traditional Cloud/Infra team into a product-oriented Platform Engineering practice.
  • Background with GitOps policy/guardrails, environment promotion, and release orchestration at scale.
  • Exposure to cost optimization and FinOps practices in GCP/Azure.
  • Hands-on with self-hosted GitLab Premium administration at enterprise scale.
  • Pragmatic, outcome-focused delivery with a product mindset and high empathy for developers as customers.
