Role Summary: 

The Director of Trade and Distribution will bring their extensive market access experience to our first product launches in neuromuscular disease with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization of our lead assets in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and myotonic dystrophy Type I (DM1). The Director of Trade & Distribution is responsible for managing and executing the distribution and channel strategy in the pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases. This position will implement and manage all contracts with the 3PL, Specialty Distributors, Specialty Pharmacies, and other channels as needed. They will collaborate with Finance, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Operations, Analytics, Quality, Supply Chain, and others as necessary. This position is critical to ensuring Dyne has the most efficient and seamless way possible of reaching our patients living with these severe diseases. A successful candidate is a self-starter who is highly driven, collaborative, and embodies values such as bold thinking, agility, and a focus on execution.  S/he will have led successful product launches, driven revenue growth, have a strong reputation for excellent cross-functional collaboration 

As part of a high performing team, this role seamlessly collaborates cross functionally to deliver a one Dyne approach, including close collaboration with field roles, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Global Value and Access, and Advocacy, to ensure cohesive and aligned go-to-market strategies and successful execution. This role may be remote or based in Waltham, MA. 

 
Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Develop, lead, and implement the strategy of the trade and distribution approach. 
  • Partner with the payer team to ensure the distribution channel strategy meets the needs and expectations of the payer community and sites of care. 
  • Execute strategy and operationalize 3PL, wholesalers/specialty distributors, and specialty pharmacies to ensure availability and support for Dyne products. 
  • Collaborate with legal, finance and other internal operations functions to draft, execute, and implement, innovative compliant contracts with key trade and distribution partners to ensure business objectives are met. 
  • Monitor services agreements to ensure compliance and hold partners accountable to agreements. 
  • Partner with Patient Support, Marketing, Commercial Analytics and Sales to continually monitor, assess and evolve the distribution strategy and tactics to ensure objectives are met and exceeded. 
  • Identify, develop, and execute on practical compliance/adherence and other patient support programs that use our distribution and trade partners in collaboration with Dyne’s Patient Support Services team. 
  • Lead and manage channel engagement with all stakeholders associated with 3PL, Specialty Distribution, and Specialty Pharmacy/Specialty Infusion Providers. Develop and maintain relationships to ensure unfettered access to key personnel. 
  • Work with channel partners to ensure proper purchasing, stocking, and inventory to achieve corporate goals in a compliant manner. Continually monitor weekly sales to ensure purchases are aligned with demand and highlight any discrepancies to be investigated. 
  • Develop and implement performance metrics and tools such as dashboards and communicate results internally. 
  • Partner with Patient Support, Managed Markets, Finance, and Supply Chain to develop an appropriate return goods policy. Implement this policy within the distribution channel where necessary and monitor to ensure compliance and that appropriate objectives are met or exceeded. 
  • Spearhead an Infusion center/Site of Care distribution strategy 
  • Work cross-functionally with the manufacturing/supply chain and quality team on chain-of-custody and inventory tracking. 
  • Perform trade data reporting requirements in conjunction with commercial analytics to perform assessments in trade and network performance. 
  • Prepare and conduct quarterly business reviews with trade partners. 
  • Lead State Licensing initiatives. 
  • Lead budget and vendor management to ensure timely and fiscally responsible project execution. 
  • Support and provide Commercial input into CMC Supply Chain strategy and planning 

Education, Knowledge & Skill Requirements  

  • BA/BS degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) preferred 
  • 12+ years of bio/pharmaceutical experience required with a key understanding of current US pharmaceutical distribution models 
  • 8+ years of US channel management experience (3PL, Specialty Distribution, Specialty Pharmacy) 
  • Previous rare disease experience and Buy-and-Bill models, including infusion products, preferred. 
  • Experience partnering with Specialty Pharmacies to establish fee-for-service programs 
  • Demonstrated experience in process development for coordination with HUB, co-pay, and other patient service providers 
  • A strong understanding of the policies, regulations, and compliance issues surrounding Trade and Distribution. 
  • Demonstrated skills in business planning and distribution strategy with strong problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and financial acumen required to manage complex contractual agreements 
  • Lead strategy development, design, vendor selection, and implementation phases for end-to-end channel partnership 
  • Ability to translate and compile data into comprehensive and functional reports 
  • New product launch experience required 
  • Influential personality with the ability to simplify and clarify complex issues to broad and diverse audiences 
  • Enterprise mindset that makes culture and values come to life in everyday activities 
  • Experience in a small, rapidly growing biotech with the ability to operate and maneuver in a start-up environment while keeping a solutions-oriented mentality  
  • Demonstrates an authentic willingness and capability to roll up sleeves rather than relying on others for delivery 
  • Ability to travel to meet business objectives
