Echodyne is seeking a Sr RF Design Manager to join our fast-growing team. 

The Sr RF Design Manager will lead Echodyne’s RF and microwave engineering team, responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of advanced RF subsystems that enable next-generation radar platforms. This role requires a strong technical foundation in RF circuit design combined with the ability to mentor, direct, and empower a high-performing engineering team. The manager will drive technical excellence, ensure alignment with company product and program objectives, and foster collaboration across systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and operations teams.

The manager will provide and guide technical expertise in RF circuit design, simulation, analysis, and design for X to guide design execution, verification planning, and risk mitigation. Additionally, they will define and architect production test strategies and supporting prior to transition to manufacturing. Throughout the product lifecycle, they will lead root-cause investigations, trade studies, and continuous improvement initiatives to sustain and enhance product performance.

Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical & RF Engineering, the manager will balance direct technical contributions with leadership responsibilities, acting as both a technical authority and a people leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Leadership
    • Serve as the technical authority for RF and microwave subsystems, guiding architecture, design tradeoffs, and risk mitigation strategies
    • Define RF subsystem requirements derived from system-level requirements and ensure completeness, feasibility, and traceability
    • Drive the design, simulation, schematic capture, layout review, bring-up, and verification of RF printed circuit assemblies and subassemblies
    • Establish and oversee production test strategies and supporting infrastructure to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and quality
    • Lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions for RF subsystem performance or reliability issues, feeding learnings back into design processes
  • People & Team Leadership
    • Manage and grow a multidisciplinary team of RF engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor, innovation, and continuous improvement
    • Set clear technical and professional development goals for team members, providing mentorship and coaching
    • Balance workload and priorities across projects to ensure timely delivery of program objectives.
    • Champion engineering best practices and Design for Excellence (DFX) principles across the RF and microwave domain
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a RF engineering interface with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical reviews, ensuring alignment and clarity in design decisions
    • Partner with Program Management to define, prioritize, and communicate technical objectives and project milestones

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Proven technical leadership experience with ownership of RF systems, subsystems, or components across the full product lifecycle
  • Deep expertise in RF/microwave circuit and subsystem design, including transmitters, receivers, cascaded chain analysis, and high thermal density architectures
  • Experience bringing RF designs through schematic, layout, integration, design verification, qualification, and transition to production
  • Strong understanding of design-for-quality (DFQ), design-for-test (DFT), design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and design-for-assembly (DFA)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous process improvements
  • Track record of mentoring and elevating engineering teams

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE 
(Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills)
 

  • Experience with synthesizer design, clock synthesis/distribution, and low phase noise architectures
  • Familiarity with advanced RF components (power amplifiers, driver amplifiers, digitally controlled phase-shifters & attenuators)
  • Proficiency with full-wave simulation suites (HFSS, CST, or equivalent)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Electrical Engineering required; MS preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in RF circuit and subsystem design, with at least 2 or more years in a technical leadership or management role

The pay range for this position is $159,800 - $239,600 annually
