About the Role
Ethos is looking for an ambitious self-starter to join our Corporate Finance & FP&A function! This hire will play a major role in defining the company’s financial plan and provide financial and operational decision support to cross-functional partners. You will play an integral part in Ethos' success by scaling and improving our corporate finance functions, driving financial planning processes, and working with various business partners to develop strategic analyses on key business initiatives.
This role will have high visibility across the executive team and will require you to solve the most complex, interesting challenges of a rapidly-scaling startup. Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Play a major role in building and scaling the corporate finance function. Implement new processes and improve financial controls to ensure the health and stability of our increasingly complex business
- Own and drive financial planning and budgeting processes. You will play a critical role in determining resource allocation and guiding Ethos’ growth and trajectory
- Develop and monitor critical financial performance metrics. Drive key corporate reporting requirements to the Board of Directors and Executive Team (e.g. company level KPI tracking, performance to plan, budget vs. actual variance analysis and more)
- Actively contribute to the design and implementation of accounting and planning tools (e.g., NetSuite, Anaplan, Adaptive, etc.)
- Drive high-impact strategic and operational initiatives and deliver business analytics and insights to drive decision making related to unit economics, customer acquisition, operations, core business expansion, and new opportunities
- Play a pivotal role in capital raise activities and investor and lender engagement
- Apply a data-driven analytical approach to influence decision making and support company leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in Corporate Finance / FP&A / Strategic Finance, preferably including 2+ years at publicly traded companies or late stage pre-IPO companies. Prior experience in investment banking and/or private equity / growth equity a plus
- Best-in-class excel skills and extensive experience developing insightful financial models and quantitative analyses, paired with strong critical thinking and sound business judgment
- Expert in building new processes in an enterprise financial planning system (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan)
- Motivated self-starter with a track record of success and a proven ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks while hitting deadlines. Desire to own and drive projects from Day 1
- Excellent communication skills and effective cross-functional collaborator
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Deep understanding of valuation methods and strong working knowledge of GAAP
- SQL knowledge is a plus

The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $109,000 - $192,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
