Position Summary
As the Senior Security Engineer at ExtraHop, you will be a core member of the security operations team. You will be the primary security architect responsible for implementing and maintaining security infrastructure on a modern network with state-of-the-art tools. You will drive security innovation and new approaches to mitigate threats. You will provide real-world feedback to improve our security products and processes. You will collaborate with other security operations members as well as talented members from other ExtraHop departments, including Legal, IT, and product teams, to protect our resources and spread security throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure, as well as computer systems.
- Track the performance of security measures and implement improvements.
- Design a computer security strategy and engineer a comprehensive cybersecurity architecture.
- Identify, define, and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to management.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware such as Security Information Event Management (SIEM), Network Detection and Response (NDR), and Endpoint Detection and/or Response (EDR) platforms.
- Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
- Monitor systems for anomalous/irregular behavior and set up preventive measures.
- Plan, develop, implement, and update the company's information security strategy.
- Educate and train staff on best practices for information system security.
- Understanding of Kubernetes environments and container security.
- Other duties as necessary.
- This position may require occasional on-call availability, depending on business needs.
- Willing to travel 10% (US travel)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT Security.
- Strong knowledge of security standards and encryption.
- Proficient in network architecture and troubleshooting.
- CISM, CISSP, GIAC, IAT Level 2 or security certifications desired.
- Strong desire for industry certifications in SIEM, EDR and/or NDR on major platforms.
- Strong desire for cloud certifications in AWS or GCP.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of Information security standards (ISO/IEC 27001/27002, NIST 800-53, FEDRAMP, CIS controls)
- Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, and consultative skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop effective and cooperative working relationships with Extrahop departments and employees.
- Strong understanding of Linux environments and the ability to troubleshoot, build, and maintain them.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes environment, particularly focused on container security within server and serverless environments.
- Ability to work within AWS, Azure, and GCP, building, maintaining, and architecting security infrastructure within and across multiple cloud environments.
- Work cooperatively with others within the organization and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Work well in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
- Has predictable, reliable attendance.
The salary range for this role is $150,000- $175,000 + bonus + benefits.
