Job Overview
SFM is seeking a seasoned investor to focus on sourcing and evaluating both internal and external portfolio managers.. This person should have a deep understanding of public equity investment strategies (ideally first order experience), fund structures, and global market opportunities, along with exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills.
The team’s investment ethos is a collaborative and adaptable approach, anchored in long-term commitment which allows us to better lean into dislocations with confidence. We establish strong partnerships with a wide array of external asset managers across private and public markets. Our allocations to portfolio managers focus on demonstrated track records of delivering value-added returns beyond what can be accessed by available simple market betas. We are sophisticated in our use of balance sheet and decomposing return streams into underlying components with the team’s unified goal of producing the best risk adjusted bottom line for our end clients.
Major Responsibilities
- Source and on-going evaluation of internal portfolio manager talent, helping to build a world-class investment team
- Play a pivotal role in selecting and monitoring external fund managers across a variety of strategies and geographies
- Conduct thorough evaluations of potential internal and external portfolio managers, including reviewing their investment philosophy, track record, and decision-making capabilities
- Grow SFM’s network and reach
- Combine strong analytical capabilities, deep knowledge of public markets, and the ability to build strategic partnerships to enhance SFM’s overall portfolio through internal or external partnerships
- Assist with the preparation of investment memoranda and meeting notes for new and existing managers, maintain manager performance database for both funded and pipeline managers
- Work and communicate well with SFM’s CIO, risk, and asset allocation team to build a robust coverage map for internal and external fund investment and help drive end fund return outcomes
We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $200,000 - $250,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus, as well as other benefits.
