Senior Director, Software Engineering

At Fanatics Collectibles, you’re not inheriting someone else’s playbook, you’re writing it; a greenfield mandate with full executive support and a clear remit to build. Our operational systems power real commerce via real payments, real fulfillment, real users, and real stakes. As a Senior Director, Software Engineering, you will be the founding leader for Fanatics Collectibles in Mexico City to build a multi-disciplinary tech hub of 50+ engineers with a startup energy, enterprise-grade complexity, and with the resources to move fast.

The Team

Fanatics Collectibles is building the infrastructure of a new category, the unified collector operating system. Powering that infrastructure requires world-class Services and Operational Systems including the payment rails that move money, the warehouse platforms that move card production, and the trust and safety systems that protect every transaction. To achieve this at scale, we are establishing an engineering hub in Mexico City that will have full ownership of systems that run a global, real-time commerce platform.

About You

If you’re a builder, passionate about creating a culture of innovation and leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, this role is for you. A founding leader who has experience operating within multinational or US-based tech companies. You understand e-commerce at scale: the payments layer, the fulfillment layer, the trust layer. You’re energized by the prospect of building, leading, and scaling an agile tech hub from scratch.

Role Summary

The Senior Director, Software Engineering you will balance a dual mandated role as the hub leader and engineering leader. • Build the organization and culture, define the operating model, and own technology and infrastructure decisions to position Mexico City as a center of excellence within Fanatics’ global engineering organization
  • Partner directly with US-based engineering, product, talent acquisition, and operations leaders to align roadmaps, define team structures, hire top talent, and stand-up systems that are mission-critical to the business
  • Own scalable infrastructure across the full commerce lifecycle for Services and Operational Systems engineering including Payments, Warehouse Technology, Transportation, Customer Experience Technology, Identity, and Trust & Safety systems
  • Establish engineering best practices, delivery cadences, incident response protocols, and career development frameworks
  • Partner with Finance and Trust & Safety to drive authorization rates, reduce chargebacks, and protect the health of the ecosystem
  • Enable warehouse and fulfillment innovation via WMS rollout, raw card ingestion systems, and large-scale scanning and robotics capabilities
  • Represent Fanatics in Mexico City by building relationships in the local tech community, engage in the broader engineering ecosystem, and attracting top talent to the hub

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 7+ years of people management experience, specifically building and leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce operations technology (payments processing, warehouse management systems, logistics technology, identity, and trust & safety systems
  • Expertise in at least one operational systems domain across payments (auth rates, fraud, BNPLs, payout systems), warehouse and logistics technology (WMS, fulfillment operations), or trust & safety (fraud detection, identity verification, risk platforms)
  • Experience attracting, retaining, and developing senior engineers in a competitive LATAM market

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in multinational, US-headquartered, or US-scale technology companies
  • Experience creating communication strategies and strong cross-functional collaboration skills to partner with stakeholders and to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps
  • Proven track record of creating structure out of ambiguity and bringing technical visions to life
  • Business fluency in English
  • Based in Mexico City or open to relocating. This is an onsite leadership role

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
