Role Summary

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Topps Digital, part of Fanatics, you'll be the bridge between raw data and business decisions, owning everything from BI dashboards to AI-powered insights. We're looking for someone self-motivated and intellectually curious, who doesn't just answer the question asked, but challenges assumptions, asks why, and brings new, innovative thinking to the table. This isn't just an individual contributor role, you'll act as a thought leader, partnering directly with functional leads across the business to shape how we understand performance and make decisions.

What You'll Do

Analytical Work & Insights

  • Lead complex, cross-functional analytical initiatives end-to-end, from an ambiguous business problem through scoping, analysis, and a decision-ready recommendation.
  • Conduct analyses that validate business opportunities and support key decisions, including scenario analysis and impact sizing.
  • Apply statistical rigor and structured problem-solving to business questions, going beyond surface-level reporting to explain why something is happening and what to do about it.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and senior leadership, and defend your methodology under scrutiny.
  • Diagnose root causes in the data, not just symptoms, and translate findings into concrete, actionable recommendations.

Dashboarding, Reporting, & Automation

  • Build and maintain dashboards, automated reporting, and AI-driven insight tools within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Optimize and automate operational workflows across the business, reducing reliance on recurring manual data pulls and repetitive, manual decisioning.
  • Define KPI definitions and methodology, then build the underlying pipelines and visualizations.
  • Standardize reporting and unify process across cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain a source of truth for internal business questions to help drive decisions.

AI Enablement

  • Build and maintain a knowledge repository to support the business's AI chat agent.
  • Design and build the logic that power the chat agent's ability to answer business questions accurately.
  • Build the evaluation frameworks and guardrails that determine when the chat agent can operate independently and when it should defer to human review.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to independently write, QA, and optimize complex queries against large, imperfect datasets.
  • Experiencing building and maintaining dashboards in Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, Looker, or similar BI tools.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data infrastructure, including AWS services and the Databricks platform (e.g., Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, and workflow orchestration).
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end, from ambiguous ask to stakeholder-ready recommendations.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into analytics workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana or Jira, and familiarity with agile frameworks.
  • Command of statistical methods, such as experimental design/hypothesis testing, regression analysis, causal inference, time-series forecasting, multivariate analysis, segmentation/clustering, and Bayesian methods, applied through structured problem-solving frameworks for business analysis.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting to leadership and senior stakeholders, translating complex problems clearly, and proposing alternative approaches when the data warrants it.
  • An insistence on the highest standards of data quality and accuracy, catching issues before they surface in leadership reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, R, or relevant statistical programming languages.
  • Background in e-commerce, sports, entertainment, and/or mobile gaming industries.
  • A genuine interest in Fanatics, collectibles, mobile apps and gaming, and sports.
