Your Role:  

We are seeking the Director of Supplier Quality is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, leading, and executing the global supplier quality strategy across the entire supply base of the FX Program. This individual will ensure that all supplied components and systems meet stringent automotive quality, safety, and regulatory standards. As a key member of the quality leadership team, the Director of Supplier Quality will drive continuous improvement, mitigate supplier-related risks, and ensure operational excellence from concept through mass production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Own the Global Supplier Quality Strategy aligned with organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and customer expectations.
  • Define, set up and maintain the Supplier quality target and daily operation processes with global business partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of regional supplier quality leaders, engineers, and specialists across global locations.
  • Oversee supplier selection, onboarding, qualification, and risk assessment in collaboration with Purchasing, Engineering, and Program Management teams.
  • Ensure robust implementation of APQP, PPAP, and IATF 16949 standards across the supplier base.
  • Establish and enforce standardized supplier quality policies, audit programs (e.g., IATF 16949), and performance scorecards. Proactively identify and address quality risks in the supply chain related to capacity, quality systems, and process stability.
  • Act as executive escalation points for major supplier quality issues and manage crisis resolution and containment strategies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to drive zero-defect culture, cost reduction, and enhanced product reliability.
  • Report on supplier quality performance to executive leadership and drive accountability with measurable KPIs.
  • Align cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Product Development, and Logistics to ensure seamless product launches and SOP readiness.
  • Represent supplier quality in customer audits, regulatory reviews, and executive reviews.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in quality or supplier quality roles in the automotive or mobility industry, including at least 7+ years in a leadership or executive position.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive quality management systems, standards, and core tools: IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D, SPC, MSA.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed teams. Strong experience in supplier development, risk mitigation, and global supply chain quality.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Executive presence with excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to automotive components: electronics, plastics, metals, powertrain, EV batteries, etc
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, or VDA 6.3 Auditor are highly preferred.
  • Experience with vehicle OEM & Tier 1 supplier networks and global operations, including North America, Europe, and Asia.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30–50% globally as required.
  • Proficient in using enterprise quality systems and tools (e.g., SAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with EV platforms, ADAS systems, or software-integrated components.
  • Multilingual proficiency (German, Mandarin, or Japanese) is a plus.
  • Track record of successful supplier quality leadership in a startup-to-scale or high-growth automotive environment.

 Annual Salary Range:

($170,000.00 - $210,000.00 DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
