Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Impact in this role:

Your role as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be to support and drive improvement to our critical manufacturing functions. We have two sets of customers—our builders, who order parts through us, and our manufacturing partners, who manufacture and assemble these parts—and you’ll be consistently working at the interface between the two. As the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will be leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers (Cost & DFM) that support with reviewing and analyzing the manufacturability and costs associated with fabrication (including CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, die casting and 3D printing) and other manufacturing processes as we add to our service catalog as submitted by our builders. In this role, you’ll be using your mechanical engineering & costing background combined with your knowledge of manufacturing processes to determine what design changes may need to be made to our builders’ design specifications to meet their needs.

You will report to the General Manager for México and have a team that reports to you on the different processes and industries we currently manage in the region.  You will work on-site from our office in Santa Catarina, México.

Areas of Responsibility

• Create a master plan for cost and DFM short, mid and long term schemes
• Define the “Should Cost Models” for the different processes we offer in our catalog. e.g., sheet metal and CNC should cost models for a rapid RFQ turn around
• Fundamentals for Release Package Review – Analyze models, drawings, parts lists, and other data to determine scope of work, feasibility for manufacturing, manufacturing requirements, and minimum lead time. Ensure your team will execute to time-to-quote of 48 hours on non-complex projects and up to 3-5 days return on complex projects RFQ.
• Quoting – Develop and combine your analysis with Fictiv’s software recommendations to generate quotes for builders
• Calculator Generation – “Should Cost Models” (use your fabrication expertise and understanding of process cost drivers to develop cost calculators that allow Fictiv to bring quoting in-house for new service offerings)
• Build close connections with Logistics Regional Leads to understand current shipping costs, taxes and tariffs applicable to the project under quote
• DFx Feedback – Provides DFx feedback to builders, such as recommended design alterations to improve manufacturability, reduce cost of part fabrication, or improve ease of assembly
• Automation Feedback – Provide feedback to the quoting software team to improve accuracy of automated quoting of our manufacturing services
• Drawing Generation – Ensure generation of high-quality 2D drawings per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards

Desired Experience:

• Experience of 7 - 10 years in a similar role
• Previous experience managing a team is required
• Meticulous, detail-oriented, inclination for documentation
• Fluency in business English and Spanish
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter, manages time efficiently, able to complete work in a timely manner without active supervision
• Enjoys sharing knowledge and teaching others about manufacturing processes
• Works comfortably with customers, both internal and external
• Leadership experience combined with a responsible, get things done mentality
• A leader upon whom Fictiv can rely with confidence that he/she will deliver on promises
• A person who is open to receive feedback while constantly focusing on continuous improvement
• Strong in technical knowledge on Sheet Metal and experience in Product Costing

Ingeniero Líder de Manufactura

Impacto en este puesto:

Tu función como Ingeniero Líder de Manufactura será apoyar e impulsar la mejora de nuestras funciones críticas de manufactura. Tenemos dos grupos de clientes: nuestros constructores, que solicitan piezas a través de nosotros, y nuestros socios de manufactura, que fabrican y ensamblan estas piezas, y trabajarás constantemente en la interfaz entre ambos. En Fictiv, creemos en crear la plataforma líder a nivel mundial para la fabricación de hardware, y desempeñarás un papel fundamental para que eso suceda.

Como Ingeniero Líder de Manufactura, liderarás un equipo de Ingenieros de Manufactura (Costos y DFM) que apoyan revisando y analizando la fabricabilidad y los costos asociados con los procesos de manufactura (incluyendo maquinado CNC, lámina metálica, moldeo por inyección, fundición a presión e impresión 3D) y otros procesos que vamos incorporando a nuestro catálogo de servicios según lo solicitado por nuestros constructores. En este rol, usarás tu experiencia en ingeniería mecánica y costos, junto con tu conocimiento de procesos de manufactura, para determinar qué cambios de diseño podrían ser necesarios en las especificaciones de los constructores para cumplir con sus necesidades.

Reportarás al Gerente General de México y tendrás un equipo a tu cargo que cubre los diferentes procesos e industrias que actualmente gestionamos en la región.

Áreas de responsabilidad

• Crear un plan maestro para estrategias de costos y DFM a corto, mediano y largo plazo
• Definir los “Modelos de Costos Estimados” para los distintos procesos que ofrecemos en nuestro catálogo. Ej. modelos de costos estimados para lámina metálica y CNC para agilizar las cotizaciones (RFQ)
• Fundamentos para la Revisión del Paquete de Liberación – Analizar modelos, dibujos, listas de piezas y otros datos para determinar el alcance del trabajo, viabilidad de fabricación, requerimientos de manufactura y tiempo mínimo de entrega. Asegúrate de que tu equipo cumpla con los tiempos de cotización de 48 horas para proyectos no complejos y de 3 a 5 días para proyectos complejos
• Cotización – Desarrollar y combinar tu análisis con las recomendaciones del software de Fictiv para generar cotizaciones para los constructores
• Generación de Calculadoras – “Modelos de Costos Estimados” (usa tu experiencia en fabricación y conocimiento de los factores que afectan los costos del proceso para desarrollar calculadoras de costos que permitan a Fictiv hacer cotizaciones internas para nuevos servicios)
• Crear relaciones cercanas con los Líderes Regionales de Logística para entender los costos de envío actuales, impuestos y aranceles aplicables al proyecto en cotización
• Retroalimentación DFx – Proporcionar retroalimentación DFx a los constructores, como recomendaciones de modificaciones de diseño para mejorar la fabricabilidad, reducir costos de fabricación de piezas o facilitar el ensamblaje
• Retroalimentación para Automatización – Proporcionar comentarios al equipo de software de cotizaciones para mejorar la precisión de las cotizaciones automatizadas de nuestros servicios de manufactura
• Generación de Planos – Asegurar la generación de planos 2D de alta calidad conforme a los estándares ANSI/ASME Y14.5

Experiencia deseada:

• Experiencia de 7 a 10 años en un rol similar
• Experiencia previa liderando un equipo es indispensable
• Meticuloso, orientado a los detalles, con inclinación por la documentación
• Fluidez en inglés y español a nivel profesional
• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación verbal y escrita
