Benefits Manager 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Benefits Manager to help lead the design, administration, and optimization of our employee benefits programs. The Benefits Manager will help oversee health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, ancillary products, wellness initiatives, and other perks, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. This role will include a particular focus on supporting our self‑insured medical plan, while also partnering closely with the VP of Benefits on all initiatives. The Benefits Manager will serve as a trusted advisor and operational leader, ensuring smooth execution of benefits strategy and compliance across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help lead the administration and management of employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, life, ancillary, and wellness offerings.
  • Partner with the VP of Benefits to design, implement, and oversee benefits strategy, compliance, and employee communications.
  • Provide oversight and support for the self‑insured medical plan, including vendor management, claims review, and cost‑containment initiatives.
  • Serve as one of the key contacts for benefit-related inquiries, providing guidance and resolution for employees and HR partners.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Benefits and Marketing to design, develop, and produce benefits communication materials and brochures that effectively promote the firm’s offerings to employees
  • Work with the VP of Benefits to help oversee benefits budgeting, forecasting, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Partner with the VP of Benefits to help run the annual open enrollment process, including system configuration, testing, employee communications, and training sessions.
  • Work closely with the Senior Benefits Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other applicable laws.
  • Partner with HRIS teams to ensure accurate system setup and ongoing maintenance of benefits modules.
  • Help oversee leave of absence programs, coordinating with employees, HR partners, and third-party administrators to ensure compliance and effective communication.
  • Analyze benefits data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for program improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership on strategic planning initiatives and contribute to long-term benefits strategy.
  • Supervise and mentor benefits staff, ensuring effective execution of all responsibilities listed above.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (CEBS, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience supporting or managing a self‑insured medical plan.
  • Deep knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA).
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with ADP, Workday, or similar platforms strongly preferred.
  • Strong vendor management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of building collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable strategies and recommendations.
  • Willingness to travel for enrollment meetings, vendor negotiations, and employee education sessions.

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $120,000-145,000. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
