Director of Product Design
About the role:
As the Director of Design for the Forter Trust Platform, you will be a pivotal leader in shaping the user experience of our multi-product platform for the AI era. You will be responsible for the overall design vision, strategy, and execution across our platform, ensuring a cohesive, intuitive, and impactful experience for our impressive customers. You will lead and inspire a talented team of designers, collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and analytics to deliver world-class design solutions that empower businesses to build trust in every digital interaction. This role demands a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, exceptional leadership skills, a passion for complex problem-solving, and the ability to translate intricate technical concepts into elegant and user-friendly interfaces.
What you'll be doing:
- Define and Champion the Design Vision: Establish and evangelize a clear and compelling design vision for the Forter Trust Platform, aligning with business goals and user needs.
- Lead and Inspire the Design Team: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of UX/UI designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Drive the Design Strategy and Execution: Oversee the entire design process, from user research and concept development to wireframing, prototyping, and visual design, ensuring high-quality deliverables across all touchpoints.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements, technical constraints, and business objectives, ensuring design solutions are feasible and impactful.
- Establish and Maintain Design Standards: Develop and maintain a consistent design language, style guides, and component libraries to ensure a unified and scalable user experience across the platform.
- Advocate for the User: Champion user-centered design principles and methodologies, ensuring that user needs and feedback are deeply integrated into the design process.
- Conduct and Oversee User Research: Plan, conduct, and analyze user research activities, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive analysis, to gain deep insights into user behaviors and needs.
- Iterate and Optimize Designs: Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback, data analysis, and evolving product requirements, striving for optimal usability, accessibility, and engagement.
- Communicate Design Concepts Effectively: Clearly and persuasively communicate design concepts, rationale, and user insights to stakeholders across the organization.
- Stay Abreast of Industry Trends: Continuously research and stay informed about the latest design trends, technologies, and best practices, bringing innovative ideas to the Forter Trust Platform.
- Measure and Analyze Design Impact: Define and track key design metrics to measure the effectiveness of design solutions and identify areas for improvement.
What you'll need:
- Proven experience (8+ years) in UX/UI design, with significant experience (5+ years) in a leadership role managing design teams for complex enterprise SaaS platforms.
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design skills, user-centered design thinking, and a deep understanding of interaction design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to define and implement design vision and strategy across a complex product ecosystem.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of user research methodologies and the ability to translate research findings into actionable design insights.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and an opinion and early experience in leveraging AI design tools for acceleration.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
- A passion for creating intuitive and impactful user experiences for complex technical products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience designing for enterprise users and understanding their specific needs and workflows is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with data visualization principles and the ability to design effective data-rich interfaces is a plus.
