Title: Sensory Lab Coordinator
Location: Solon, OH (onsite)
Company: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing (FuseGlobal has worked with this company for 20 years)
Initial term: 6 months (position expected to run longer)
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 AM – 4 PM

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Sensory Lab Coordinator is responsible for the organization, implementation, and maintenance of Sensory Lab programs and documentation, creating a safe and efficient workspace in which team members can complete sensory tests with excellence. This individual also oversees sample management and is the main point of contact for Sensory Technicians during sensory test execution. Beyond the local work environment, the Sensory Lab Coordinator assists in driving initiatives for continuous improvement of sensory lab practices across the organization.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for sensory laboratory:
- Implement good laboratory practices and safe laboratory behavior, ensuring compliance to all relevant company standards.
- Implement and monitor maintenance programs to ensure sensory equipment and facilities are clean, organized, operational, and properly calibrated.
- Maintain inventory of sensory lab materials, and order supplies as needed to ensure sensory lab operational continuity.
- Maintain and create relevant documentation for sensory lab procedures and best practices.
- Assist Sensory & Product Experience Manager in driving initiatives to evolve sensory lab practices.

• Support Sensory Tests & Trainings:
- Manage sensory product reception, storage, inventory, and disposal.
- Assist Sensory Specialists with test creation in sensory software and launch respective IT sessions.
- Coordinate panel instructions with Sensory Specialists and Technicians before, during, and after sensory studies.
- Assist Specialists with sensory training, sensory glossary development, and other sensory related activities as required.
- Assist Sensory Specialists with the coordination and execution of training activities for employees.

• Assist Sensory Panel Management:
- Coordinate and assist Specialists with sensory panel recruitment activities.
- Work with IT to set up equipment for new sensory panelists.
- Prepare monthly reports on resource utilization for services provided to relevant business partners.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field. College level Sensory Science coursework is a plus.
• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred either in an academic or professional setting. Sensory lab experience is a plus.
• Software knowledge: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Proficiency in sensory software is a plus.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience driving initiatives to successful completion.
• Track record of working effectively in a team environment.
• Flexible work hours, as required by the business.
• A collaborative attitude, enjoys working with, learning from, and sharing knowledge with others.

Supervision Received:
A proactive independent person and is able to lead/manage/complete projects with minimal supervision. Creative and innovative with a sense of urgency and passion. There will be at least two formal meetings with line Manager to evaluate the progress toward the goals. There is also the opportunity to work closely with other members of the team for guidance. There will be formal training sessions set up for all newcomers to the company as well as specific courses required as an R&D worker. The supervisor will set up a training plan, and it is the responsibility of the individual to execute the plan.
