Senior Software Engineer — Core Services

Berlin

Build the systems behind Gallup’s life-changing products.

At Gallup, we believe engineering is a core driver of product and business success. As a senior software engineer on our Core Services team in Berlin, you’ll work at the intersection of product, engineering and platform strategy to build shared systems that accelerate innovation across Gallup Access, our flagship platform for improving performance and employee experiences in organizations worldwide.

In this role, you’ll design services used across teams, shape foundational patterns, and work closely with peers in product and engineering to deliver fast, consistent value to our customers.

If you’re seeking a hands-on engineering role with high visibility and impact, this is your opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build scalable services, interfaces and shared capabilities used by multiple Gallup Access product teams
  • Develop internal APIs, reusable components and tooling that reduce friction and increase consistency across teams
  • Partner with DevOps, product managers and engineering peers to align technical solutions with product goals and user needs
  • Drive architectural conversations that balance short-term delivery with long-term system maintainability
  • Provide mentorship and leadership in code quality, system design and collaborative problem-solving
  • Contribute to internal engineering standards and guide adoption of patterns that improve delivery speed and product quality

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Product mindset: You think beyond code to build systems that speed innovation and enhance the user experience.
  • Systems thinking: You design for scale, reuse and long-term reliability, creating solutions that empower every team.
  • Technical leadership: You guide architectural decisions, navigate trade-offs with clarity and earn trust by delivering results that last.
  • Modern engineering practices: You build with intention, confidently using APIs, automation and observability to develop scalable, resilient systems.
  • Language agility: You move easily between frameworks and languages, always choosing the right tool for the job.
  • Mentorship: You help engineers level up through clear feedback, shared best practices and leading by example.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, required
  • At least five years of professional software development experience with strong object-oriented foundations required
  • Experience with backend frameworks such as .NET Core, Java, or similar required
  • Solid front-end development skills (e.g., React, TypeScript, modern CSS) to build interactive prototypes and experimental UIs required
  • Production experience with SQL and NoSQL databases required
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (preferably AWS) and service integration patterns required
  • Experience designing internal APIs, backend tooling or shared services required
  • A track record of team mentorship and system-level contributions required
  • Experience using and integrating AI tools into development workflows and product experiences preferred
  • A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s Berlin office two to three days a week required
