About The Role
We’re seeking a highly motivated Senior Revenue Accountant to drive revenue accounting and quote-to-cash (QTC) operations. This role combines technical expertise in ASC 606, strong leadership, and a customer-centric mindset to drive accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across our revenue processes. You’ll own key AR and billing functions, ensure GAAP-compliant revenue recognition, and partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, and Legal to support strategic growth. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, brings a proactive and analytical approach, and is passionate about building world-class, tech-enabled operations that scale with the business.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the end-to-end revenue accounting process, including billing, invoicing, collections and commissions
- Must have direct experience interpreting and applying ASC 606 to high-volume, complex SaaS contracts including variable consideration, tiered pricing, and usage-based models
- Lead and develop a high-performing revenue operations team, fostering collaboration and a mindset of continuous improvement
- Oversee timely and accurate month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and revenue reporting
- Design and implement scalable QTC workflows, including contract review automation, billing logic standardization, and revenue subledger enhancements resulting in accelerated close timeliness and accuracy of ARR
- Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Corporate Accounting, and FP&A on contract review, structuring, and revenue recognition considerations
- Investigate and resolve revenue-related discrepancies, implementing cross-functional solutions to prevent recurrence
- Lead special projects, including ERP optimization, automation initiatives, and process enhancements to scale revenue operations
- Partner with engineering/product teams to drive QTC architecture, data governance, and system automation initiatives
- Manage and enhance quote-to-cash (QTC) policies and procedures, implementing best practices to optimize efficiency and accuracy
- Architect scalable QTC workflows and controls, including contract ingestion, billing automation, and revenue subledger integration. Lead cross-functional teams to reduce manual processes and increase auditability
- Oversee accounts receivable and collections, ensuring alignment with public company standards and maintaining healthy balances through effective policy governance
- Partner with the Controller and VP of Finance to assess risks, strengthen internal controls, and support IPO or public company readiness initiatives
- Support external audits and SOX compliance, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and communication
Ideal Profile and What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required; Big 4 experience and/or high-growth tech or fintech background strongly preferred
- 4+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or quote-to-cash roles, with a strong understanding of SaaS/technology business models and enterprise sales cycles
- Deep technical expertise in ASC 606 and US GAAP; proven experience evaluating complex, multi-element contracts and developing accounting policies
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical revenue accounting guidance and oversee accurate, timely revenue recognition and close processes
- Strong understanding of subscription billing, invoicing, collections strategies, and end-to-end quote-to-cash cycles
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite), CRM tools (Salesforce), and revenue recognition systems; Planful and AI tools a plus
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience building scalable financial models and revenue analysis templates
- A self-starter with a history of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness of close
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experienced in collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Deal Desk, FP&A, Legal, and Engineering
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where growth and professionalism will be achieved largely through accuracy, creativity, high integrity, reasoned and thoughtful judgment, sense of urgency, a balance between strategic and tactical skills and a willingness to "roll up one's sleeves" and get into the details
- Strong business acumen and customer-focused mindset, with a passion for scalable, tech-enabled operations and process transformation
Built’s salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
