The Data Scientist 3 is a highly skilled scientist and software developer with a broad skill set who will be responsible for applying advanced data science and machine learning techniques to the challenges GHX faces in helping to bend the cost curve in healthcare.  The Data Scientist will leverage traditional AI, ML and DS solutions as well as Generative AI capabilities combined with diverse internal and external data to produce key innovations and strategic goals.

The Data Scientist will need to be adept at producing intelligence that serves multiple stakeholders simultaneously, including the traditional GHX customer base of hospitals, manufacturers, and distributors, as well as patients, physicians, payors, government, and the investment community. In addition, the role will support internal GHX departments in making data-driven decisions.

The Data Scientist will have expertise in statistics, machine learning, and related tools of modern data science. They should have relevant experience in applying such tools to producing practical, scalable models.  This person will work collaboratively within a team of data scientists and engineers as well as people from product management, technology, operations and other stakeholder groups.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and challenges and translate these into solutions.
  • Follow best practice for model development: training, testing, maintenance, etc.
  • Invent novel solutions to suit stakeholder needs.
  • Design and train machine learning solutions.
  • Deploy solutions as maintainable APIs.
  • Build simple front ends / dashboards to demonstrate capabilities in a simple workflow.
  • Develop custom models and algorithms utilizing internal and external data sets.
  • Assess the effectiveness, accuracy, and limitations of solutions.
  • Adhere to sound software engineering practices.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with DS team and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report on and explain findings and decisions, detailing the what and the why.

Competencies:

  • Ability to creatively apply data science and machine learning methods to solve targeted business problems.
  • Expertise of broad range of DS and ML methods and how to mitigate common pitfalls (over fitting, sample bias, etc.)
  • Understands and implements best practice in deployment methods: CICD, containerization, etc.
  • Can work with SQL and NoSQL (document, vector, graph) data sources.
  • Excellent software engineering skills creation of unit tests, modular problem decomposition, multiple solution integration, etc., with minimal to no supervision.
  • Create visualizations to convey understanding of findings.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Greater than 3 years working as data scientist.
  • High level of expertise with Python & SQL.
  • Experience with libraries like scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.
  • Experience with AWS cloud resources.
  • Experience with Docker or other container services.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Computer Science or hard sciences, Bachelors or Masters degree.
  • Experience with graph data is a plus.

 

Estimated salary range for this position: $109,000 - $146,000

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
