Design Release Engineer - Plant Support

Summary:
This role will support design-related activities, both for current production items and for upcoming projects, with proficiency in CATIA V5 and PLM/data management systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and release assigned systems components and assemblies from concept to production
- Serve as primary responsible for design-related queries and issues
- Coordinate engineering designs and systems with purchasing, suppliers, testing team, manufacturing team, other vehicle subsystems and functions
- Utilize CATIA V5 for all design and engineering tasks
- Apply engineering principles to develop automotive products that meet customer technical and functional specifications, as well as manufacturing cost and efficiency requirements.
- Conduct 3D modeling to evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed designs
- Support and participate in the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of automotive prototypes
- Design manufacturing processes and equipment specific to automotive product production.
- Provide technical support and system analysis for root cause analysis of development issues
- Manage product releases, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of new designs and updates
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus 5 years relevant experience
- Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
- 5+ years of experience designing automotive sheet metal components in CATIA V5
- Experience routing pneumatic lines and harnesses
- Experience working in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
- The ability to work independently, and to lead, coach and mentor others
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
