Manager, Compliance & Regulatory Operations

The Role 

As more Americans turn to cannabis for well-being, we are looking to grow our team to help us bring additional safe, trusted products to even more consumers and channels across the country. We are seeking a compliance-driven professional to join our Beverage Team to lead state-by-state compliance and strategic business initiatives related to hemp-derived THC products. This individual will serve as a regulatory and compliance subject matter expert and partner closely with Legal, Innovation, Marketing, Quality, and Operations teams to interpret and operationalize evolving regulations into actionable business processes.  

This leader will design and execute the long-term compliance roadmap for hemp-derived products, owning process and execution across functions related to state-by-state registrations, label and packaging compliance, product launches, compliant marketing programs and ancillary project management functions associated with distribution across all state markets

Responsibilities 

  • Monitor, review, and analyze state and federal laws and regulations impacting hemp-derived THC products, leveraging in-house and outside legal counsel as a resource to navigate regulatory frameworks, regulations and requirements specific to our products and distribution. 
  • Track enforcement actions, regulatory bulletins, and legislative changes across all relevant markets and communicate implications to key stakeholders. 
  • Develop, maintain and execute compliance frameworks, SOPs, and checklists for registering, labeling, packaging, and marketing in collaboration with beverage operations and brand teams. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement compliant product launches and marketing campaigns, ensuring adherence to state-by-state requirements. 
  • Oversee and provide proactive risk assessments and compliance guidance for business initiatives, market entries, and promotional activities. 
  • Assist with preparing responses to regulatory inquiries, deficiency notices, or enforcement actions as needed. 
  • Support submission of any necessary regulatory filings or approvals related to hemp-derived products. 
  • Work closely with Legal, Government Affairs, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure consistent compliance standards across markets. 
  • Support product launches and distributor on-boarding, including managing the set-up and registration of Product UPCs, facilitating receipt of necessary documentation from distributor partners, and alignment with cross-functional team resources including product management software. 

Qualifications 

Required Experience 

  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance management experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., cannabis, alcohol, food & beverage, pharma, or tobacco). 
  • Self-sufficient and proven compliance manager with desire to operate a compliance program autonomously with support of legal counsel  
  • Deep understanding of labeling, packaging, and marketing compliance frameworks. 
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate regulations into business action. 
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with ability to build programs 
  • Experience in managing multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives. 
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence. 

Preferred Background 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred 
  • Prior experience advising on multi-state compliance programs. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and cross-functional alignment skills 
  • Compliance mindset with operational and strategic execution capabilities 
  • High bias for action, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving 
  • Proficiency in Excel preferred 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks   
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry   
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
