About the Role:

In this role, you'll empower our partners to market and sell payroll to small businesses through their embedded payroll offerings. You will create impactful enablement materials, including training sessions and marketing campaigns, while fostering collaboration and driving customer growth.

As a key member of a dynamic team focused on expanding our embedded partnerships, you will lead the enablement function by developing innovative materials and playbooks, sharing best practices, and continuously refining our partner enablement strategies. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around shaping the enablement strategy, driving initiatives, and empowering individual contributors through various projects.

About the Team:

Gusto Embedded Payroll is our newest business unit, driving the next arc of innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third party SMB platform to build, sell, and serve payroll, however, they wish. Our API offering allows other companies to offer payroll services to their customers inside their app or service. By creating a more seamless payroll experience for SMBs, we will bring Gusto’s platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Strategize & Plan: Contribute to the development and planning of short and long term enablement strategies to drive end customer growth across partners and own the execution of deliverables.
  • Collaborate: Work with Cross-Functional teams, including Partner Growth, Technical Solutions, CX and Marketing teams, to understand partner needs, pain points, and goals, and create content that   align enablement efforts with business objectives.
  • Build: Utilize deep understanding of Gusto’s products, services, and industry as Payroll Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to develop actionable playbooks and comprehensive materials tailored for our external embedded payroll partners to market and sell payroll to small businesses, including training materials, guides, documentation, & best practice documents. 
  • Teach: Design and deliver effective training sessions, elearnings, presentations, and workshops to empower and drive success for our external embedded payroll partners and internal GEP teammates.
  • Measure What Matters: Continuously gather feedback from partners and internal teams to improve content and resources for optimal partner engagement.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 5–10 years of experience , 3+ years in experience in sales enablement or marketing/sales operations working closely with sellers preferred
  • Hands-on experience building and developing new go-to-market programs
  • Structured thinker. Strong writer, presenter, and executor who thrives in cross functional collaboration
  • Organized, with immaculate attention to detail
  • Clear and precise communication skills, verbal and written
  • Creative and enthusiastic problem solver
  • Ability to simplify complex information for easy understanding
  • Ability to operate independently without much guidance and quickly grasp new concepts and technologies

Strong nice to haves:

  • Experience teaching salespeople or experience serving as a trainer or teacher 
  • Knowledge of LMS systems, content authoring, enablement tools, document storage, PRMs
  • Strong project management skills - help in organizing and executing training initiatives, content development projects, and timelines effectively.
  • Marketing background

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $104,000/yr - $136,000/yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $127,000/yr - $165,000/yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. 

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
