Role Overview:
ID.me is seeking a mission-driven, highly strategic, and operationally-minded Chief of Staff to support the SVP of Engineering. This role is pivotal to ensuring Engineering leadership is executing with precision, alignment, and velocity. The Chief of Staff will act as a strategic thought partner, operator, and integrator for the SVP and the broader engineering leadership team, ensuring goals are met across engineering planning, performance, and execution.
This is a highly visible role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, communication, and execution. The ideal candidate has experience in a high-growth tech environment, understands the rhythm of engineering organizations, and is passionate about driving clarity, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Execution
- Drive the annual and quarterly planning process across Engineering in partnership with Product and Business teams.
- Ensure alignment of org goals with company-wide priorities and translate those goals into clear OKRs, KPIs, and execution plans.
- Track progress toward goals and facilitate reviews to ensure cross-functional accountability.
2. Operational Excellence
- Serve as a force multiplier for the SVP by prioritizing and streamlining daily operations, meetings, and initiatives.
- Build and manage org-level cadences: leadership meetings, all-hands, QBRs, postmortems, and planning cycles.
- Partner with Finance and HR to manage headcount, budgeting, and organizational design.
3. Cross-Functional Communication & Collaboration
- Act as a communication bridge between the SVP of Engineering and key internal stakeholders including Product, People, Comms, and Legal.
- Ensure crisp, consistent internal communication across teams to foster alignment and transparency.
- Draft communications and presentations for executive updates, board materials, and strategic initiatives.
4. Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead and execute cross-functional initiatives that don’t have a natural owner but are critical to engineering performance or culture.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks within the organization that hinder execution speed or alignment.
5. Culture & Team Health
- Partner with the SVP and People team to foster a high-performance, high-trust engineering culture.
- Build engagement and feedback mechanisms that empower engineers and leaders at all levels.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8–12+ years of experience in strategic operations, product, consulting, or Chief of Staff roles — ideally in a fast-growing technology company in an Engineering role.
- Strong understanding of how engineering organizations operate, ideally with experience supporting technical leadership.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with executive leadership.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive clarity in ambiguous or rapidly evolving environments.
- Skilled in program management, strategic planning, and stakeholder alignment.
- High EQ with a bias for action and humility.
Target Background:
Candidates who have operated in highly technical environments supporting B2B/B2C engineering or product orgs. Comfortable navigating engineering strategy, team scale, and org design. Has partnered closely with technical leaders to amplify impact through systems thinking and operational rigor.
The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.

$266,263 - $307,987 USD
