Your Role at impact.com:

Impact's analytics engineering team is looking for an Associate Analytics Engineer who's ready to get hands-on with dbt, BigQuery, and the craft of building trusted data models. This is an entry-level role where you'll build foundational skills in SQL, dbt, and data modelling while delivering well-scoped models under guidance from senior engineers. You'll contribute to building and maintaining the analytics data layer that powers insights and decision-making across the business. You'll work with dbt and BigQuery to transform raw data into clean, tested, and documented models, developing the habits of engineering excellence that underpin our analytics infrastructure. You'll work as part of a collaborative, globally distributed analytics engineering team, with mentorship from a Senior Analytics Engineer. Our ideal candidate has solid SQL fundamentals and is passionate about turning messy data into trusted, reusable assets.

What You'll Do:

  • Under guidance from senior engineers, write tested, documented code that meets the team's quality standards.
  • Build and maintain dbt models that transform raw data into analytics-ready structures in BigQuery, following established patterns and standards.
  • Develop working knowledge of dimensional modelling, data granularity, and schema design principles.
  • Contribute to test coverage by building schema tests, relationship tests, and custom logic tests for your models.
  • Document models with clear business definitions, lineage descriptions, and dependency mapping.
  • Participate in code reviews, learning from feedback and incorporating it into your work.
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly; ask good questions to deepen  understanding of business domains and data.
  • Collaborate with data analysts to understand analytical requirements and ensure models serve downstream use cases.
  • Grow technical skills through pairing sessions, feedback cycles, and hands-on work across the analytics codebase.

What You Have:

  • 0–2 years of experience in a data-related role (analytics engineering, data engineering, data analysis, or similar)
  • Solid SQL skills, comfortable writing queries involving joins, aggregations, window functions, and CTEs
  • Foundational understanding of data modelling concepts (dimensional modelling, star schemas, data granularity)
  • Familiarity with dbt or eagerness to learn dbt project structure, testing, and documentation workflows
  • Exposure to or interest in cloud data platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
  • Basic proficiency with version control (Git), including branching, commits, and pull requests
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Appetite to learn, take feedback, and grow in a collaborative engineering environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field is a plus
  • Familiarity with Python is a bonus
