Responsibilities:
- Data collection & analysis: Gather and analyze data from public sources, government reports, and industry benchmarks to support decision-making with data-driven recommendations.
- Legislative tracking: Monitor relevant legislation and regulatory changes across local, state, and federal levels. Keep stakeholders informed of developments that may impact the organization.
- Strategic planning support: Help design strategies to engage government officials, influence policy outcomes, and advocate for our interests.
- Report preparation: Create reports, presentations, and briefings for senior leadership, outlining the impact of government activity and proposing actionable strategies.
- Compliance monitoring: Identify potential risks and advise on regulatory compliance and mitigation strategies.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Legal and Public Affairs to ensure alignment in government relations and compliance efforts.
Skills and competencies
- Data collection: ability to gather and interpret data from various public and government sources.
- Critical thinking: Assess information objectively to support decision-making
- Understanding of government processes: Knowledge of how legislation is drafted, passed, and implemented at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Writing proficiency: Strong ability to produce clear, concise reports, briefings, and policy summaries.
- Presentation skills: Capable of delivering insights effectively to members of the organization.
- Public affairs awareness: Understanding how policy decisions impact organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Required Experience
- 2 or 3 years of professional experience working in government, highly regulated industries or government-related roles (financial industry, pharma)
- Strong capacity to review complex documentation and build reports, make recommendations, presentations to the leadership team
- Comfortable working independently with little supervision
