The Cost Engineer is a crucial member of our project management team. The Cost Engineer manages the cost reporting, forecasting and budget management for the project, including identifying long term trends, financial modeling and predictive cash flows. They are also responsible for pricing and preparing proposals for additional work to the client, and making assessments of proposals submitted by the supply chain. They are the lead on preparing and submitting payment requisitions and invoices to the client, and reviewing and paying invoices received from sub-contractors and suppliers.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Math related field; Business, or Accounting, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and negotiate monthly payments with owner
  • Review sub-contractor detailed cost breakdowns/invoices and manage the payment of sub-contractors based on performance and progress
  • Approve project wide vendor invoices by matching invoices with packing slips and purchase orders
  • Conduct monthly cost meetings with upper management to review financial health and position of project
  • Prepare monthly financial recap sheets and cost reports
  • Assist in the negotiations of Additional Work Orders, and tracking/documenting of all time, material & equipment associated with the AWO
  • Prepare quarterly billing projections for upcoming work with input from project manager, foreman and subcontractors and submit to upper management
  • Submit weekly quantities to management analyzing the weekly production
  • Track and document the progress of the project on a daily basis including man-hours, cable installed, equipment installed, materials used, etc. 
  • Work closely with the field personnel and project management to (re-forecast) adjust activities on a monthly basis

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Basic to strong understanding of cost accounting
  • Basic understanding of construction
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Able to clearly communicate in a timely manner
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Word and Excel
  • Good team player
  • Attention to detail, specifically involving numbers

$85,000 - $155,000 USD
