Senior Network Engineer (6185)

iTD is seeking a Senior Network Engineer. You will work directly with the client Director, Network Engineering. You will be required to apply solid technical, business, and problem-solving skills and create productive relationships with business units and internal IT teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Network Architecture & Engineering:

  • Design, implement, and support LAN (Cisco/Aruba), WAN, and WLAN (Aruba) infrastructure across corporate and retail environments

  • Engineer and troubleshoot network security systems, including SSL VPN solutions, Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls

  • Provide end-to-end engineering and support, from end-points to Cloud Data Centers (Azure/OCI/GCP)

  • Ensure network designs comply with security policies and industry best practices

  • Evaluate new and emerging network security trends, products and technologies

Operations & Support:

  • Provide end-to-end technical support—from endpoints to cloud data centers

  • Lead and participate in triage for high-severity incidents (P1/P2), including root cause analysis and post-incident reporting (PIR)

  • Use Automation/Scripting for troubleshooting and administration of repeated tasks

  • Use Splunk to proactively analyze trends and alert on issues

  • Manage scheduled and emergency maintenance of network infrastructure

  • Troubleshoot WAN/SD-WAN connectivity and performance issues (MPLS, T1, DS3, QoS, etc.)

  • Provide day-to-day support of the LAN (Cisco/Aruba), WAN, and WLAN (Aruba) network

  • Participate in on-call rotation

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Collaborate with application owners to support new deployments/enhancements and troubleshoot performance issues

  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, Jira/Confluence, and SmartSheet

  • Provide detailed project plans and take ownership of project delivery end-to-end (Plan, Build, Run)

  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Work with application owners on troubleshooting issues, even though it may not be a network-related issue

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings.

  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.

  • Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material).

  • Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.

  • Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).

  • Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of overall network technology experience

  • 3+ years of experience with networking and security technologies in a retail environment working directly with store cast

  • 3+ years’ experience in Layer 7 Firewalls (Fortinet, PAN)

  • 2+ years hands-on experience with cloud networking (Azure preferred)

  • Must have Aruba wireless experience

  • Aruba ClearPass experience is extremely helpful, including 802.1X, Radius, AAA, and policy management

  • Automation and GenAI experience a big plus

  • Identify opportunities for automation within software processes, including configuration, backup, and troubleshooting processes using automation and GenAI

  • Prefer some experience in scripting languages (Python, Ansible, PowerShell, or VBScript)

  • Load balancer experience (F5 and other LB technologies)

  • Practical experience interacting with and integrating enterprise Large Language Models (LLMs) via APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or open-source models)

  • Understanding of prompt engineering, model tuning, and RAG architectures tailored to ingest technical network documentation and system logs

  • Able to lead P1/P2 triage calls and provide detailed Post Incident Report written analysis

  • Experience using tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds to gather data to present to manager/leadership

  • Soft skills – verbal and written communication are key attributes to be successful in this position

  • Be able to understand business needs and translate technical tasks

  • Must be results-oriented, self-motivated, and possess high energy

  • Must be customer-service-minded and tactful when dealing with customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, coworkers, employees, and upper management

  • Self-starter with a proactive approach—drives improvement without waiting for instruction
