About the Position
The Division Manager of Assets Management is responsible for the strategic movement of ITS assets. The primary focus is optimizing ITS assets and utilization to reduce costs and minimize the number of required trailers while meeting all customer expectations across the ITS Network. This role leads the organization’s strategy in trailer pool management, asset repositioning, maintenance coordination, and compliance with safety standards. This critical role will provide training, coaching, and clear performance expectations to hold the Asset Optimization and Asset Coordinator teams accountable to KPIs and operational goals. The Division Manager will ensure the standards of excellence for ITS trailer are upheld for all Production Centers.
Network Optimization
- Oversee the strategy of positioning assets across the network to minimize idle time and maximize utilization.
- Responsible for the management and reduction of empty moves cost per trailer per month.
- Develop and execute strategies for trailer positioning and in-network lane pairing opportunities to maximize asset utilization and reduce idle time.
- Provide high-level reporting to internal stakeholders on overall network performance.
- Build strong relationships and communication with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of service and performance.
Trailer Management
- Develop department standard operating procedures and ensure all asset compliance demands are met, including ITS Pick-up and Delivery Inspections.
- Implement process improvements to standardize operations of ITS assets leveraging data insights across all divisions.
- Coordinate with teams to ensure trailer pools are adequately available as needed to meet the customers’ demand.
- Monitor maintenance trends and partner with stakeholders to address recurring equipment issues proactively.
- Work closely with the technology team to develop meaningful technology solutions to enhance the trailer network and reduce costs.
- Oversee the accuracy of asset tracking, trailer pool data, and landmark/location management.
- Ensure Asset Coordinators collect accurate incident details and collaborate with the Repair & Maintenance, Safety, Damage, and Claims teams as needed.
about the requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics management or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading the strategy of trailer pool management, asset optimization/repositioning efforts, and service/safety.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional communication.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in logistics, fleet, transportation, or supply chain required.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong work ethic and internally motivated to exceed all commitments and requirements of the position.
- Energetic, positive attitude.
Key Performance Indicators
- Trailer idle time reduction within customer landmarks.
- Compliance and inspection completion rate.
- Accuracy and timeliness of asset maintenance and claim reporting.
- Standardization in trailer pool management.
- Ensure all trailer moves are documented in the Transportation Management System.
- Reduction in empty move costs across the network.
- Empty moves per trailer per month.
