Job Summary
We are seeking experienced and driven Retail Project Managers to lead high-profile commercial interior and luxury retail projects across the U.S. The ideal candidate has a proven track record managing fast-paced, high-end fit-outs from pre-construction through close-out. This role requires exceptional leadership, client-facing capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination.
Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of multiple retail construction projects simultaneously, often in active or occupied environments.
- Work closely with clients, landlords, design teams, consultants, and vendors to align objectives and manage expectations.
- Establish project logistics and phasing plans, ensuring minimal impact to operations and compliance with all local jurisdictional requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or equivalent tools; actively track critical path items and mitigate delays.
- Lead weekly OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor) meetings, setting agendas, issuing minutes, and tracking follow-up items.
- Track and manage project budgets, monthly cost reports, billing (AIA), and cash flow projections.
- Ensure full compliance with insurance, permits (e.g., DOB, LPC), and contract documentation requirements prior to mobilization.
- Proactively identify risks, coordinate design and construction conflicts, and implement strategic solutions.
- Ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to high-finish standards expected in luxury retail environments.
- Drive project close-out including punchlist completion, client turnover, Department of Buildings sign-off, and final as-built packages.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience, with a strong emphasis on luxury retail, flagship stores, and commercial interiors.
- Successful track record managing high-value projects ($2M–$15M+) across multiple geographies.
- Deep understanding of New York City construction practices, codes, inspections, and permitting.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to mentor junior staff and interface directly with executive-level clients.
- Strong technical acumen in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP plans.
- OSHA 30 and LEED accreditation preferred.
Computer Systems
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Procore (preferred but not required), and Timberline (preferred but not required)
Salary Information
- To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary range for this role is $125,000 - $225,000.
Note: The comp range and the description are for ALL levels of Project Manager!
