About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer with extensive experience in healthcare IT, enterprise software implementations, and system integrations. This individual will play a critical role in developing high-quality, structured documentation for complex integration projects, including virtual primary care clinics integrated with Epic and a SaaS-based provider AI portal. The Senior Technical Writer will work with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and cross-functional teams to produce client-ready materials that facilitate smooth implementation and adoption.

You will have the autonomy to drive the documentation process, ensuring that technical information is captured, structured, and communicated clearly and effectively. Your work will serve as the foundational resource for our partners, ensuring seamless integration and efficient workflows.

This will be a 1 - 2 month contract with potential opportunity for a long-term role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the Documentation Process: Lead the documentation efforts from start to finish for integration projects, including virtual primary care clinics and SaaS-based AI portals in healthcare environments.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and Technical Teams: Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and product managers to collect, structure, and clarify complex technical information. Ensure that all necessary integration steps, configurations, and requirements are captured accurately.
  • Develop and Maintain Structured Documentation: Create detailed implementation guides, API documentation, integration best practices, and troubleshooting manuals that clearly explain workflows and procedures for external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Usability and Clarity: Structure content in a way that is user-friendly for various audiences, from technical teams to end-users, ensuring the documentation is clear, actionable, and well-organized.
  • Drive Standardization: Maintain consistency across all documentation materials. Establish best practices for documentation structure, style, and format to ensure that all materials are easily navigable, clear, and aligned with company standards.
  • Support Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain a repository of implementation documentation that can be used for future integrations and reference by both internal teams and clients.
  • Iterate and Improve: Gather feedback from implementation teams, end-users, and clients to improve and refine documentation continuously, ensuring it remains accurate and up-to-date.
  • Create Visual Aids and Diagrams: Develop diagrams, flowcharts, and process visuals to complement textual content and make complex concepts easier to understand.
  • Ensure Compliance and Security: Work closely with legal, security, and compliance teams to ensure all documentation adheres to relevant standards and regulations, particularly around healthcare integrations (e.g., HIPAA, FHIR, HL7).

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in technical writing or implementation documentation in complex, highly regulated industries (healthcare IT experience is highly preferred).
  • Proven experience developing API documentation, integration guides, and enterprise software manuals.
  • Ability to gather and structure complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred), healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), and SaaS-based solutions.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML, or similar.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.

Important to us:

  • Familiarity with FHIR APIs, HL7, SMART on FHIR, Epic, and other integration tools commonly used in healthcare IT.
  • Experience in creating user-friendly documentation that caters to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to create process flow diagrams, technical illustrations, and interactive documentation for better comprehension.
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory requirements and documentation compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Basic knowledge of APIs, HL7, AI models, or related technologies to help understand the integration process.

Why join K Health?

  • Impactful Role: Play a pivotal role in ensuring successful healthcare IT integrations and smooth implementation for our external partners.
  • Autonomy & Leadership: Lead documentation initiatives and work autonomously to establish best practices.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside experts in healthcare IT, Epic systems, and product engineering teams to deliver high-quality resources.
  • Career Growth: Expand your expertise in healthcare technology, implementation processes, and technical writing best practices.
