The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.
LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s diversity and creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.
The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

LA28 Olympian/Paralympian Athlete Fellowship Program - Summer 2025
Program
The LA28 Olympian/Paralympian Fellowship Program is a year-long opportunity featuring two six-month rotations across LA28’s operational teams. Successful candidates will complete one rotation from July to December 2025 and another from January to June 2026. Assignments will be determined based on interviews and the applicant pool. Fellows will gain valuable work experience, expand their networks, and provide feedback throughout the program.
Since its launch in 2021, the program has supported 34 participants and graduates. These Athlete Fellows have represented 13 countries and competed in 18 sports, collectively earning 25 Olympic and Paralympic medals across 15 editions of the Games.
Salary and Benefits
Fellows will receive a salary and benefits for their one-year commitment: $67,000.00
Candidate Profile
- Must have competed in Olympic or Paralympic Games (summer/winter/any year/USA or any country)
- Must hold current US work permit/employment authorization, no sponsorship will be provided.
- Must be retired from elite international competition and able to work full time.
- Excellent written, verbal skills and analytical ability
- Must live or be willing to relocate to LA area (relocation assistance not provided)

SPORT & GAMES DELIVERY
Event Management
The Event Management team is responsible for leading the integrated event operational planning at the venue level for all competition and training venues and some major non-competition venues. The group is also responsible for managing and coordinating the negotiation of venue agreements, the collation and organization of venue-related documentation and data, and the maintenance of strong working relationships with all venue partners. At Games Time, the Event Management team leads and manages the event teams at venues, event delivery, venue communication, and venue issue resolution.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Build tools and systems that supports Event Management central planning initiatives and drives processes for venue group teams (45+ venues)
- Develop event operational planning materials and presentations for venues as a foundation for integrated collaboration and planning across teams at LA28
- Develop 2026 Event Management global calendar of events working cross functionally with FAs to determine scheduling across event operational planning, visits from international federations and NOC/NPCs, and other Event Management delivery requirements
Media Operations (Broadcast & Press)
LA28’s Media Team consists of the Broadcast Integration (BRS) and Press Operations (PRS) functional areas working together as one team to maximize the delivery of services to media stakeholders, who are critical to the storytelling of the games. We coordinate closely with the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBC) and the IOC to serve the Media Rights Holders and Press stakeholders, collaborating cross0functinoally with LA28 service functional areas to deliver the appropriate levels of service.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Assist with In-Venue Operations workstream by developing a system to track requests for MRH Survey visits and coordinating cross functional support for the operational planning, including defining service levels and supporting cross-functional engagement to align rate card services for Media Rights Holder.
- Contribute to OBS relationship building by supporting the review and summary of information provided, monitoring communication channels, and data collection platforms (i.e., registration, visa request process).
- Be a key contributor to service level definition across LA28 functional areas; ensuring the athlete perspective is considered in the planning and delivery of key services.
National Committee Services (NCS)
NCS facilitates the relationships and planning between the 206 National Olympic Committees (NOC) and 183 National Paralympic Committees (NPC) and LA28. A truly global and cross-functional team, NCS serves as a key channel for communication, education, facilitation, and coordination to help all NOCs and NPCs plan for the LA28 Games. What are they planning for? NOCs and NPCS are responsible for the Games experience for all their delegation members outside of the field of play. An NOC or NPC delegations are largely made up of athletes and team officials (coaches, technical personal, caddies, grooms, guides, etc.); however, they also are responsible for all other official delegation members such as support staff, training partners, horse owners, athlete chaperones, dignitaries, and guests. As a result, NCS is a key main point of contact and facilitator of pre-Games preparation and planning supporting the definition of service levels, hosting NOC/NPC visits, delivering seminars and workshops, as well other key programs required to support the NOCs, NPCs, AND LA28 Functional Areas in ensuring LA28 is the best one yet!
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Contribute to NOC and NPC Games planning and readiness by supporting the operational planning, delivery, and follow-up of NOC and NPC Visits and Welcome Days (on-site workshops, program design, venue visits, and tours).
- Support the design and delivery of NCS tracking and monitoring tools to facilitate efficient coordination of issue/question resolution, program progress, and more.
- Support NOC and NPC relationship building by coordinating the delivery of key communications, engagement initiatives, resource channels, and data collection platforms.
- Actively participate in NOC and NPC planning meetings and follow-up.
- Be a key contributor to service level definition across LA28 functional areas; ensuring the athlete perspective is considered in the planning and delivery of key services (i.e. Olympic and Paralympic Village).
Sport
LA28’s Sport team is responsible for insuring all Olympic and Paralympic sports are delivered within the IF requirements while providing world-class services that enable athletes to perform at their best. Sport sits within Game Operations and collaborates internally across departments (ex: Venue Management, Venue Infrastructure, Government Relations, Ticketing) and externally with key stakeholders (ex: IOC/IPC, IFs, OBS, NGBs) to advance planning on deliverables such as the competition schedule, testing and readiness, and workforce planning.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Sport team on key milestones such as testing and readiness, sport equipment guidelines, and training venues.
- Manage IF Site Visits by tracking visit requests by IF, logistics in the lead-up and during each site visit and ensuring internal communication across multiple departments.
- Support Group Sport Managers and Sport Managers by tracking International Federation communications and helping prepare for Event Operating Planning sessions across competition venues
Venue Infrastructure
The Venue Infrastructure team is responsible for ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of all venue infrastructure and overlay for the staging of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games – creating the optimal environment for athlete performance, fan engagement, and operational efficiency.

- Support Venue Design Development, including cross-functional reviews and feedback, design team workshops, and integration in new design platform (tool for sharing drawings externally)
- Support with the development of venue design book overviews, including all presentations for onboarding LA28 and external stakeholders to the venue design book review process
- Support the accessibility function within VNI, including support for all accessibility strategy development, venue audits and drawing reviews and presentation support for our main accessibility consultants
Villages Management
Villages Management (VIL) is responsible for the planning, management, and operation of the Olympic and Paralympic Village as well as Satellite Villages. Villages Management works alongside both external partners (such as UCLA) and a wide range of other internal functional areas with the primary goal to deliver the best Village experience for all athletes, team officials, and stakeholders.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Work with Villages Management to continue designing the venue and concept plan for the Olympic and Paralympic Villages with an Athletes’ first approach. Specific areas of focus can include Transportation, Accessibility, and overall flow throughout the Villages.
- Assist with Village workstreams to continue the operational planning, including defining service levels, displacement planning with UCLA, and working with many other FAs on cross-functional planning.
- Help facilitate site visits to the Village(s) for NOCs, NPCs, IFs, other LA28 Functional Areas, and others.
EXTERNAL AFFAIRS & GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
Government Relations
The Government Relations team advocates for policies to enable a successful 2028 Games through Federal, State, and Local Governments. Stakeholders range from the City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department to U.S. Embassies around the world and consulates for numerous international governments. The team serves the entire LA28 organization by working to secure Federal, State, and local resources and builds partnerships to ensure we leave a positive legacy for Los Angeles, the region, and beyond.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Torch Relay: Assist the GR team with researching, tracking, and mapping/prospecting different cities where the Torch Relay will travel through. This project is an incredible opportunity for our intern to learn about how LA28 engages with different state and local governments to ensure a successful games and proactively engage more constituencies across the country.
- Fan Zone Engagement: Connecting with the Torch Relay project, our intern will similarly work to research, map out, and engage with cities where we would like to have Fan Zones. They will help us to pitch being a Fan Zone to different cities across the country to ensure that cities across the country get to be a part of the Games.
Impact/Community Relations
Impact/Community Relations is responsible for developing and delivering strategic plans and programs tied to the organization's social impact commitments in youth sports and economic empowerment in the greater Los Angeles region. Within economic empowerment, the athlete fellow will support programming around workforce development. Additionally, the impact/community relations team is tasked with developing community outreach engagements with key stakeholders in support of Games planning and operations, marketing, transportation, ticketing and security.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Data collection and written reports tied to LA28’s commitment to youth sports including tracking and identifying key data from PlayLA, Day of Sport, coach development programs and other community engagement opportunities focused on youth sports
- Support development and programming of the LA28 Career Pathways program which is designed to leverage workshops, career fairs, and campus visits to shine a light on career pathways in the sports and live events industry, especially among underrepresented groups
- Support research and mapping of community organizations in the host city and venue cities that will be integral in supporting the delivery of the Games.
PLANNING & PROGRAMS
Games & Delivery: Project Management
The Planning & Programs team manages the LA28 consolidated schedule, which is the single source of truth for what work needs to be done to deliver the games. The team acts as a hub for all program management support to LA28 executives, departments, teams, functional areas and individuals to help them structure their work to drive outcomes necessary to deliver the games. They deliver unambiguous reporting on the organization’s progress against their plans and owns systems to track risks, issues, and cross functional scheduling impacts. They maintain an open line of communications with the IOC and IPC to synchronize change controls and schedule updates. The Planning & Programs Team is service oriented and people facing as they work with every team across the organization. They also dive deep into data, systems, and processes.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Support a cross-functional team in developing a custom project plan and report for a body of work.
- Own a GAD “Games and Delivery” functional area milestone necessary to bring together teams centrally and deliver a cohesive games between different venues and stakeholders
- Act as a project coordinator for an FA that needs to deliver an initiative or project.
- Maintain Helios system operations by partnering with schedule managers to update data and elevate risks or issues.
- Prepare reports for governance forums that have high visibility across the organization and directly to leadership.
Sustainability
The Sustainability team is responsible for working across the organization to deliver a more environmentally sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028. The team is leading a collaborative effort to develop and execute LA28’s sustainability strategy, which accounts for operational programs and initiatives that help reduce the Games’ footprint across areas including carbon, energy, water, and waste. This function also works closely with LA28’s commercial and community partners to identify and activate environmental projects throughout the greater LA region that will help leave a lasting community impact leading up to and after the Games.

- Research current and prospective commercial partners to identify potential opportunities to collaborate on sustainability initiatives like minimizing single-use plastics during the Games.
- Support the roll out of LA28’s impact and sustainability plan and other priority deliverables like LA28’s climate strategy and LA28’s waste diversion strategy via project management, data collection, employee engagement, social media content, etc.
US OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC PROPERTIES
Partnership Marketing
On behalf of LA28, USOPC, and USOPP, the Partnership Management and Activation (PMA) team acts as the steward of all contractual rights and benefits afforded to our Commercial Partners. PMA is a collective of internationally experienced, deeply passionate marketers dedicated to maintaining a keen focus across all sponsorship elements of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements in the U.S. Designed from a management consulting model, PMA strives to unlock exceptional value across our internal enterprise, as well as for each sponsor they serve.

- Support on Partnership Marketing initiatives for Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
- Assist in the onboarding of new Partners as they join the Movement, including assistance in deck creation, onsite coordination, etc.
- Research Projects and Overview Decks on Movement-related initiatives and Potential Partner Integration.
- Provide Partner updates including news articles, quarterly earnings reports, and case studies.
- Support Partner contact database updates and organization.
OTHER LA28 DEPARTMENTS
Communications
The communications team leads storytelling for the organization, sharing LA28's remarkable journey and protecting the reputation of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. They work cross-functionally in all areas, including marketing, impact/community relations, sustainability, government relations, athletes/sport, partner management, and Games planning & delivery. Communications is responsible for developing messaging and tools, managing public announcements (including LA28/Team USA Partner activations), supporting external speaking opportunities, and collaborating with media/reporters and key stakeholders to tell the LA28 story on the road to the 2028 Games.

- Monitoring and sharing highlights from the daily news cycle
- Developing messaging and communications for both internal and external use, including org-wide messages, media requests, department-specific messaging and exec speaking engagements
- Drafting press releases and web stories
- Creating tools and processes for the communication and org-wide teams
- Working closely with the team to brainstorm, plan, and execute special projects and announcements
Digital Engagement & Marketing
The LA28 Digital Engagement and Marketing (DEM) team drives marketing and brand engagement efforts for LA28, leveraging digital platforms, social media, website management, email marketing, and content development to connect with and inspire fans. By collaborating across internal departments and engaging directly with key audiences—athletes, fans, communities, and partners—the DEM team creates compelling storytelling and promotional campaigns. Their work spans a variety of key channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LA28.org, email, website, and advertising.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate cross functional team meetings and project plans to deliver marketing campaigns
- Support the digital team in brainstorming, planning, capturing, and creating digital assets and content for specific campaigns, at LA28 events in the community and in support of key fan engagement initiatives
- Draft editorial articles or emails that align with key content or campaign deliverables
- Conduct industry research on new and emerging trends, Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls, and potential ambassadors and influencers
Legal
LA28’s Legal Department provides advice on all matters affecting LA28’s legal rights and obligations. This work includes support for commercial sponsorship and licensing agreements, Games venue and hotel agreements, and legal support for all LA28’s functional areas. The Athlete Fellow would be an important part of the legal team in our support of every functional unit at LA28, including matters ranging from Games venues and training sites to community/government relations and commercial relationships.

- Review and summarize foundational agreements and other important contracts
- Collaborate with the team on contract tracking, management, and drafting
- Participate in working groups and discussions
- Assist in IP matters, including anti-ambush and rights protection efforts
People Team: Talent & Workforce (HR)
The Talent & Workforce team at LA28 is responsible for building and scaling a world-class workforce to deliver the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We focus on workforce planning, recruitment, talent management, organizational design, and Games-time readiness, ensuring the right people are in the right roles at the right time to support seamless operations. As a temporary, high-growth organization, our work is centered on strategically planning and scaling the workforce to meet evolving needs, while ensuring we are fully prepared for Games-time operations.

- Support the planning and preparation of the workforce for the Games, with a focus on volunteer engagement and readiness.
- Assist in mapping workforce needs across paid staff, contractors, and volunteers to support Games-time operations.
- Support the development of the volunteer journey and strategy, helping to outline key milestones from recruitment through Games-time engagement.
- Contribute athlete insights to help shape volunteer experiences and ensure staff and volunteers understand how to best support athletes during the Games.
- Help track workforce planning milestones and flag any potential gaps in staffing needs as we prepare for the Games.
Technology
The LA28 Digital Engagement and Marketing (DEM) team drives marketing and brand engagement efforts for LA28, leveraging digital platforms, social media, website management, email marketing, and content development to connect with and inspire fans. By collaborating across internal departments and engaging directly with key audiences—athletes, fans, communities, and partners—the DEM team creates compelling storytelling and promotional campaigns. Their work spans a variety of key channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LA28.org, email, website, and advertising.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities will include documentation of user guides, process flows, and test scripts, facilitating working groups, training and/or testing activities with business users, troubleshooting and customer service skills to document issues. Daily tasks will include a high level of interaction with business users from Functional Areas across the organization. Fellow would be mentored in methodologies, applications and technologies, and given access to training that could support a future career in Tech.
- Games System Implementations: Supporting LA28 team members to interface with vendors and business team members to manage requirements, writing and executing testing documentation to ensure delivered system complies with requirements.
- Business process discovery: Analyze business processes to gather requirements across functional areas, understanding functional needs. Develop training documentation and facilitate training sessions to ensure business adoption of new technology, across various tech initiatives (Salesforce, Microsoft applications, Data Warehouse, etc.).
- Cyber Security: Supporting Chief Information Security Officer in documenting policies and procedures, cyber security strategy.
Transportation
The LA28 Transportation department oversees all the planning and delivery of transportation elements of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We aim to deliver a seamless system that serves all athletes, stakeholders, spectators, and workforce, while keeping the LA region moving.
- Sample Projects/Responsibilities:
- Planning and preparation for Integrated Event Operations planning, focused on Games Stakeholder Fleet estimation and operations at venues.
- Support on Federal Funding pursuit, focused on technical analysis and refinement of key Games-related transportation initiatives.
The annual base salary range for this position is $67,000.00.
