LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This presents the unique and exciting opportunity to celebrate our legacy with the Games and push the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward, writing a new chapter of Games history in Los Angeles.

Associate, National Engagement:

In this role, you will help lead coordination across major national projects, including the iconic Olympic & Paralympic Torch Relays and other strategic activations that connect communities to the spirit of LA28. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution, from logistics and stakeholder engagement to briefing materials and project tracking.  

We are looking for a proactive, detail-driven strategist who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about public service, civic engagement, and the Olympic movement. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic team, reporting to the Manager of National Engagement and collaborating with leaders across LA28 to deliver unforgettable experiences for millions.   

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management 

  • Drive nationwide activation strategy and operations to engage communities in all 50 states and build excitement for the Games. 
  • Oversee maintenance of organized systems to manage outreach, engagement activity, and stakeholder information, supporting a cohesive government engagement strategy. 
  • Proactive follow-up and implementation of meeting outcomes, ensuring commitments and action items are tracked and delivered. 
  • Create and maintain project management tools that enable seamless cross-functional collaboration; oversee tracking and reporting for department initiatives. 
  • Contribute to the development of look-ahead and retrospective reports, briefings, and presentations for LA28 leadership, government bodies, and other stakeholders. 
  • Support compliance with national, state, and local regulations. 

 Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Partner with government agencies and external stakeholders to maximize public engagement and enthusiasm for the LA28 Games. 
  • Facilitate ongoing communication through meetings, calls, and written correspondence to maintain strong relationships. 
  • Research and monitor relevant news, data, and public policies to inform engagement strategies. 
  • Collaborate with event production, management, and internal LA28 teams — including Torch Relay, Live Sites, and Commercial Partnerships — to plan and deliver key components of the Olympic & Paralympic Torch Relays and other nationwide initiatives. 

Government Affairs Monitoring 

  • Collaborate with consultants and internal teams to track priority issues and synthesize updates for team leaders. 
  • Prepare memos or briefings on pressing policy or political issues to support decision-making and development of government engagement strategies. 

Background & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of direct experience government, community relations, external relations or other related fast-paced field  
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational, operational and program execution skills   
  • A high energy level, entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to thrive through a period of change and growth  
  • Fluency working with Office suite products, with demonstrated ability to utilize advanced features/functions in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and an ability to adapt rapidly to new organizational tools as they are integrated by LA28  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Availability to work in-person five days a week in a Los Angeles-based office and, as required, to attend in-person meetings and events  
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment. Employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.   
  • Occasionally there may be a requirement for working hours outside of traditional business hours/days to support special events, travel, and the 2028 Games.   

Position Requirements:

Education:  

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent related work experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $69,000 - $75,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
